Tomas Vytautas Raskevičius, representative of the Freedom Party in the new Seimas, shared a post on Facebook announcing that the Chief Prosecutor of the Vilnius Regional Prosecutor’s Office had decided to open a pre-trial investigation into the statements of the Lithuanian People’s Party member Pranciškus Valickas against the LGBT community.

“Do you remember how the candidate of the Lithuanian People’s Party, Pranciškus Valickas, called LGBT people” perverts “,” pedophiles “on the radio and the LRT live portal, accused them of pedophilia and the police refused to initiate an investigation pre-trial on hate speech, citing “older conservative age”? views “?

After all, today the General Prosecutor of the Vilnius Regional Prosecutor’s Office has made the decision to overturn the previous decision and launch a pre-trial investigation, ”the politician writes.

The decision to open a pre-trial investigation was announced on October 22 of this year.

TV Raskevičius himself, together with another newly elected representative of the Freedom Party in the Seimas, Evelina Dobrovolska, requested the Prosecutor’s Office to initiate the pre-trial investigation in September. This request was later rejected.

The Vilnius Regional Prosecutor’s Office confirms that such a resolution has been adopted.

“Before that, the investigation had not started before the trial, the decision was made to abandon it. The senior prosecutor, after assessing the legality of the sentence, saw reasons to initiate a pre-trial investigation anyway, ”commented representatives of the Vilnius Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
