Development in the suburbs of major Lithuanian cities is one of the strategic development directions of the company. According to him, the Rimi shopping center opened in Klipščiai last year, in Tarandė, and another new store will be added to the list of network supermarkets in the suburbs of major cities later this year, according to a statement from press.
“The main cities of the country are growing, with the development and expansion of modern suburbs, most of which are inhabited by young families. They buy cabins, their own houses, to have more space for the family, the children, to be closer to nature. At the same time, they do not want to give up the interesting life of the city. Observing these trends and seeing the growing need for suburban residents to shop in modern and cozy shopping centers close to home, we are looking for and developing commercial spaces and opening new stores in these places ”, says Rosita Kucevičienė, Development Manager of Rimi Lietuva.
According to her, until now there has not been a single supermarket in Tarande where shoppers can comfortably shop without leaving home. “The closest modern shopping centers were available on Ukmergės Street. Now and for larger purchases throughout the week, residents of this area will no longer have to travel far from home. This is especially relevant now, when the virus is very widespread in the country, after the introduction of quarantine, ”says Rosita Kucevičienė.
For a safe purchase, Rimi Tarandė has three self-service checkouts, where customers can pay for their purchases independently, without direct contact with the mall staff. In the other four, Rimi’s traditional cash registers, customers and employees are separated by protective organic glass walls. A total of 23 new employees have been hired at the last Rimi. All are equipped with the necessary safety equipment and wear protective masks. Buyers wear protective masks and keep safe distances, wash their hands frequently, as in other supermarkets in the network, calls for audio messages, posters. Buyers will find the necessary tools to disinfect their hands, as well as baskets and shopping carts, provided for in the safety standard introduced by Rimi in spring, at the entrance of the sales room. Disinfection stations are also available in other popular store areas.
Opened today, Rimi, which is built and equipped according to the latest supermarket format, shoppers will find a wide range of fresh and necessary family items, household items, as well as prepared food, which is convenient to buy when returning home after work. Gintarinė vaistinė, Vynoteka, a flower parlor and a pizzeria are also located next to the Rimi shopping center. The new shopping center is equipped with 48 parking spaces, including two spaces for electric cars. In accordance with the wishes of Tarand de residents, the CityBee car rental station is also planned in the parking lot.
