A party memorial in Klaipeda: when will the local R. Paksas party return to the municipality?

[ad_1]

Although the law no longer allows political parties to use the municipal premises for free for more than a year, the building on Tilt in street in the port city is not yet abandoned by the Klaipėda branch of the liquidated “Order and Justice” party. “, and the facade of the house is still” decorated “.

The eagle hasn’t landed yet

On Tiltu Street, on the wall of the building next to the “Old Town” bus stop, there is still a poster for the “Order and Justice” (TT) party.

The poster, crowned by a stylized eagle, testifies to the party headquarters of a non-existent political force here, whose premises belong to the municipality.

According to the law, the party had to return these premises to the city before October 1 of last year.

However, no one has been able to “order” from here so far, because the term stipulated in the loan agreement is until the end of this year, so it is formally waiting for it to expire.

The municipality leased an area of 85 square meters to the TT party.

It is empty for at least half a year. During that time, the state of the party itself has changed: it is now being liquidated.

Not long ago, on March 1 of this year, the TT was one of the most abundant political forces in the country.

The Ministry of Justice declared then that this political force had up to 10,5 thousand. members.

The figure is impressive because, for example, the “peasants” who ruled the country for four years have just over 4,000. members.

During the party’s heyday in 2013, TT owned even more: more than 15,000. Lithuanian citizens.

R. Paksas: no comment

The number of affiliates began to decrease significantly when, four years ago, after the unsuccessful elections to Seimas, the party’s founder, Rolandas Paksas, resigned as president of the TT, and its remaining leaders decided to form a new party this year.

There are no elements there, empty, only the flags of the party that will go down in history remain.

When Mr. Paksas himself asked him how he valued such a decision by his former colleagues, the politician did not speak too much.

“You know, no comments. Sorry, I don’t want to continue the conversation, be healthy, don’t cry,” Paksas wished.

No seats on the dash

This term has no mandates in the Klaipėda City Council.

And in the previous elections, his victories were also unsuccessful.

2015-2019 During the tenure, TT held two positions in Klaipėda City Council (Artūras Razbadauskas and Aldona Staponkienė), before that, three positions (A. Razbadauskas, N. Istomina and Valerijonas Bernotas).

Last year, in the municipal elections, the TT representatives of 15 political forces, who did not receive even two percent of the votes (875 Klaipėda residents voted for them), came second to last.

Despite the fact that the party does not have a seat in the port city council, in fact it is no longer even in the political arena, its former representatives occupy the municipally-owned premises in the old town and intend to cede only when the official expires. loan contract.

Replaced the door lock

Edvardas Simokaitis, Head of the Property Management Department of the Municipality of Klaipėda, stated that although the contract with the liquidated party of TT for the lease of the premises will expire at the end of the year, preparations are already being made for the return of the property .

“As far as we know, the party’s liquidation procedure is still ongoing. We have prepared the documents, we have sent them to recover the premises. Those responsible are constantly changing, which makes communication difficult,” said E. Simokaitis.

V. Bernotas, one of the TT leaders in the port city, was elected to the Klaipeda City Council for two terms.

He claimed that he no longer belonged to the TT party, but left his personal belongings at the former party headquarters, which he was unable to remove.

He does not return: the former representatives of the TT party are in no rush to hand over the town hall, although the party itself is being liquidated and no one has used these premises for at least half a year. / Photo by Vytautas Liaudanskis

In the last Seimas election a month ago, a politician participated in the Social Democratic Labor Party banner and rose from 100th to 61st on the party’s multi-member list.

“After all, since the establishment of the TT party, I have been its coordinator in Klaipėda. But because such things happened, the match was launched, broke down, and people wandered through other matches. I could no longer go to collect my belongings, “Bernot explained.

The flag and the refrigerator remained

Regarding the return of the party’s offices to the city, V. Bernotas offered to contact his former colleague Linas Šukytė-Korsakė, who was better informed.

“And what is the newspaper here like? Are you from Klaipeda? Oh, you are a journalist. We will return those premises in December. No problems. And V. Bernotas has no articles there. You can improvise whatever you want. There are no articles there. “Only the flags of the party remain, which will go down in history. There is still the flag of the Lithuanian state, old tables with benches, as well as an old refrigerator, which I don’t remember if it was ever lit, “said L. Šukytė-Korsakė as property of the party in liquidation.

There are no valuables in the venue, so the worries of moving will be easy.

It is said that people gathered there only for meetings and then dispersed.

“The party is being liquidated, there is an administrator who is in charge of everything. In December, the transfer documents will be sent to the municipality, then all the papers and keys will be delivered. When we deliver the headquarters, we will collect the posters,” clarified L. Šukytė-Korsakė.

The “workers” returned the premises

In Klaipėda, before the law change, premises were provided to up to five political parties, including the Labor Party on Daržų Street.

When the well-known businessman Antanas Bosas was still in charge of the Klaipėda “workers”, the party apparently flourished, so it was allocated space even on several floors of the building.

142 square meters. m space was the largest of all parties, although the representatives of the “workers” do not have more than one term in the Klaipeda Council.

The Labor Party headquarters on Daržų Street remained empty this spring.

According to the city, these facilities will be used for the European Capital of Youth program for two years.

An office has already been set up there, and the youth organization “Round Table” and people from the public institution “Klaipėdos šventės”, who will work on this project, will work there.

Members of the Seimas will be established

After the law no longer allowed political parties to use municipal premises for free, the offices of the elected members of the Seimas in the port city suddenly needed the offices of the former members of the party in Klaipeda.

Dainius Kepenis and Algimantas Kirkutis, “peasants”, settled on Tiltų Street.

In the same building on Tiltų str. The office of the Deputy to Parliament Naglio Puteikis was transferred from 10 Liepojos Street.

The office of G. Vaičekauskas, an elected member of the Seimas in the Seaside district, appeared at the former headquarters of the Liberal Movement on Danės Street.

And on Liepų Street, the offices of the conservative Agnė Bilotaitė and the “social worker” Irena Šiaulienė still work.

“Until now, none of the outgoing members of the Seimas, who have not been elected to parliament, have given up their office space in Klaipėda. We have not yet received any rejection letters from I.Šiaulienė, N. Puteikis, A.Kirutis or others. The powers of the members of the Seimas will officially expire, we will request the return of the municipal premises “, – confirmed E. Simokaitis.

The only deputy of the Seimas Irina Rozova, representative of the Polish electoral campaign, did not have offices in Klaipeda, who assured that she did not need an office. The politician has not been elected for another term.

Ligita Girskienė (elected in Mariai constituency), Andrius Petrošius (Baltic constituency), Arvydas Pocius (Danė constituency) and Simonas Gentvilas (Seaside constituency) will soon take over from former Seimas members who do not they were successful in the elections.

According to the Statute of the Seimas, “the municipalities must assign and maintain permanent premises for the election of voters to the members of the Seimas elected in single-member districts.”

Municipalities must also provide Seimas members elected in a multi-member constituency with “properly equipped premises to receive voters and hold meetings.”

D.Kepenis and E.Gentvilas of Klaipėda were elected to the Seimas according to the list for another term.
