“We received a decision from the board of the Liberal Movement, which broadly approved the general course of negotiations, and this allowed us to agree on a second candidacy to nominate Victoria Čmilytė-Nielsen for the presidency,” Conservative leader Gabrielius Landsbergis told BNS.

According to G. Landsbergis, it was also agreed that at least two positions of heads of ministries would belong to the Liberal Movement and three to the Freedom Party.

On Tuesday, the Union of the Fatherland – the Lithuanian Christian Democrats, the Liberal Movement and the Freedom Party – agreed on this.

According to G. Landsbergis, the deputies of the president of the Seimas have not yet been decided. “There is still some time, the debate will continue tomorrow and Thursday,” Landsberg said.

The parties that have assembled the ruling coalition are nominating Conservative representative Ingrida Šimonytė for prime ministers. This is enshrined in the coalition agreement.

After the negotiations, I. Šimonytė told reporters that the quota distribution “is not a pharmacy and as a guide it would be any two posts of the Ministry for the Liberal Movement and at least three for the Freedom Party,” but the distribution Final will be determined by party agreements and proposed nominations.

“It’s simple math, the deals and the people who will be offered will weigh the most,” said I. Šimonytė.

The leader of the Liberal Movement, V. Čmilytė-Nielsen, confirmed that the party board approved the proposed quota, but the final positions are still under negotiation.

“Today, the contours are being drawn, and those positions and areas are still the subject of negotiations, but we, the parties, have agreed what we (will apply) first,” V. Čmilytė-Nielsen told reporters.

The leader of the Freedom Party, Aušrinė Armonaitė, declared that the most important thing for the party was “to implement its priorities” in the fields of education, human rights and economic freedom. “

“The first round of negotiations was very important for us, when we talk about work, we are ready for talks, our coalition partners know where the Freedom Party is strongest and we are ready to start work,” said A Armonaitė.

The document of the coalition agreement signed by the three parties on Monday lists the value commitments, the most important priorities, the works for the near future and the procedure for the elaboration of the Government program.

The agreement also lists issues of particular relevance to individual partners on which there is no consensus. These include legislative changes to ensure the dismantling of public spaces, legalization of the spelling of personal names on the home page of documents in all letters of the Latin alphabet, free information to the media from the Registry Center on legal entities, ratification of the Istanbul Convention, decriminalization allowing the legalization of a neutral gender association based on mutual responsibility and the voluntary determination to assume rights and responsibilities ”, permission to apply for the Seimas from the age of 21.

The new government should be led by I. Šimonytė, the leader of the conservative list. The coalition will have 74 representatives in the Seimas of 141.
