The last and only time in the five-game unbeaten series was recorded by the Lithuanian team in 2008-2009, when they defeated the Faroe Islands 1: 0, then played identical 1: 1 draws with Moldova, Estonia and Poland, and then broke Andorra 3: 1.
“You have to respect history, without the past and without history there will be no future. We respect that past, we respect those statistics: before the game with the Faroe Islands team, V. Urbonas did not mean the possibility of scoring history. – But frankly, tomorrow there will be another match in which all of us will represent the Lithuanian soccer team. Through this prism we look at these games, not through how many and what series they were or are.
The last four matches of the Lithuanian team
- September 7 Albania – Lithuania 0: 1 (UEFA League of Nations)
- October 7 Estonia – Lithuania 1: 3 (friendly match)
- October 11 Lithuania – Belarus 2: 2 (UEFA League of Nations)
- October 14 Lithuania – Albania 0: 0 (UEFA League of Nations)
After the friendly match on Wednesday night, the Lithuanians will go to Belarus and then to Kazakhstan, where they will put an end to the League of Nations battles.

Just before choosing the national team camp, V. Urbonas was forced to make adjustments to the composition, because Paulius Golubickas and goalkeeper Lukas Paukštė were unable to join the team for undisclosed reasons. They were replaced by Panevėžys defender Ernestas Veliulis and Gargždai goalkeeper Banga Ignas Driomovas.
V. Urbonas respectfully responded to the rivals: “The Faroe Islands team, as far as we had to do with the recordings, really left a good impression. It’s a volunteer wrestling team. There is no way we can go out relaxed and think about Sunday so that we can focus again and show the best possible game.
I want Wednesday’s game to be a dress rehearsal against the battalions of the League of Nations, the last two games that will decide our position at the table. Of course, we want to test some variants and people, because of those who will play tomorrow, we will also choose the starting lineup for Sunday’s game.
