Klaipėda County Police Coroners face a challenge: The homes of the rich are being terrorized by highly skilled burglars. They had already robbed houses in Karklė and Jakai. The criminals’ target is safes.

Late on Friday night, around 10:30 pm, the police were notified of the robbery at his own home in the Klaipėda – Jakai suburb. The hosts missed the metal safe. Apparently, the criminals did not open it on the spot.

Probably, criminals choose victims very carefully, monitor their lifestyle, habits and collect information about the values they have at home.
On Thursday of the same week around 9:30 p.m. people living in Karklė reported a similar theft.
When they returned home, the hosts found a broken plastic window frame.
The criminals’ target became a safe, which, according to officials, the thieves managed to break.
Lots of jewelry, four expensive watches, missing documents.
The owners told officials they had not been home for only about four hours.
The same gang runs
Officials from the Property Crimes Board of the Klaipėda County Police Chief Commissariat speculate that these and other robberies committed earlier in the port city suburbs were committed by the same gang of robbers.
This conclusion is reflected in the knowledge that in many cases the pattern of theft is the same, it is reached inside by breaking the plastic frames of the windows and doors.
The criminals may not be from Klaipeda. Similar crimes have recently increased in other parts of Lithuania.
A large police force is being recruited to detect these thefts, and all those previously associated with home burglaries are being investigated.
As noted, many crimes are committed on Fridays or Saturdays, only once a home was robbed on a Thursday night.
Thieves prey on a simple pattern of human behavior: When people leave home for a short time, usually between 7 and 9 p.m., the wealthy do not raise the alarm or turn only part of it.
This time is convenient for thieves because generally people do not sleep at that time and if the hosts have not left, the lights can be seen at home. On the contrary, if the windows are dark at the moment, there is nothing at home.
The hosts were at home
The police officers are convinced that the thieves are not carrying out extraordinary and lasting intelligence.
Safes are usually installed by people in the bedroom, bathroom, closet or laundry room, usually on the second floor of the house, so it is not difficult for criminals to detect them.
It is not difficult to remove them, because safes are usually bolted to drywall. Just use a crowbar and a metal box, in the hands of thieves.
There are no limits to the audacity of thieves: they robbed the house several times while the hosts were at home. There was a case where the hosts heard a picture on the second floor, they inspected all the rooms except the bedroom.
It is a true coincidence that the victims did not stand up to the criminals.
When the noise was heard again, the hosts stopped paying attention. When strange sounds came from outside, residents came out, but they didn’t see anything there either.
The hosts only realized they had been mugged after half an hour when they went to sleep and saw in the bedroom that there was no safe.
Choose the most luxurious
The authorities assured that the thieves usually enter through the windows or doors of the second floor terrace. Over there, they escape.
The alarm is usually installed separately on the first and second floors. In the first it responds to movement and in the second to rest.
It usually sets off the alarm downstairs when you go out at night or somewhere. That is what the thieves use, they try to reach the second floor of the house, where the safes are installed.
Video cameras typically monitor the yard, but they don’t capture passing cars.
Many victims ask themselves and the police why the thieves chose them. The answer is no secret: looking at the house in the neighborhood from the side, anyone will tell you which house is more expensive.
Police officers are convinced that wealthy people do not take sufficient care of the security of their property.
