Seven members of the future faction voted for his candidacy on Wednesday and six for G. Paluckas.
The old man was elected for one year.
The faction decided to nominate G. Paluckas for Vice Presidents of the Seimas.
“We solved the problem in a complex way and we looked at who can do better in the Seimas and represent the social democratic program, the idea, the idea. It was decided democratically, in the usual way, that Algirdas Sysas would take the position of eldest of the faction, and they proposed me for the position of vice president of the Seimas, ”G. Paluckas told reporters after the faction sat down at the Seimas on Wednesday.
According to the Statute of the Seimas, the candidates for the position of Vice-Presidents of the Seimas, after consulting the factions, are proposed by the Speaker of Parliament in such a way that at least two representatives of the opposition are deputies. The entire Seimas will vote on the appointment of deputies.
Paluck said he did not know if his candidacy would be supported by other groups.
He said it would be a bad idea for the same person to lead a faction and be vice president of the Seimas.
“It’s a bad decision to put all your eggs in one basket and sit all the chairs on one end,” Paluck said.
Mr. Sys argued that the oldest of the group was more technical and had more experience in parliament.
“The elder is the link between the board, the elders’ meeting and the faction. The oldest year. We have agreed that there will be re-election or re-election every year. I believe that in one year the new members of the Seimas will gain more confidence, they will know how Parliament works and they will be able to change me perfectly ”, said A. Sysas.
Both Social Democrats denied that voting for the elder showed that Paluck no longer trusted the party.
“We will solve the party’s problems one month after the council meeting. (…) Here is the parliament where the laws are passed. It is more beneficial for the Lithuanian people and for us to use the potential we have. We do not have many members. in the group, “said Mr. Sys.
Paluck himself claimed to have tested trust in the LSDP during a council meeting.
“It just came to our notice then. There will be a council meeting and I will verify it in a secret ballot. And it will depend on how it proceeds and how the party progresses,” he said.
“It just came to our notice then. It depends on whether the party chairman or the declared leadership has confidence within the party or not. We will properly address, debate and draw conclusions according to established procedure. Today, this issue is absolutely irrelevant. “said G. Paluckas.
In the Thirteenth Seimas, the Social Democrats will have 13 seats.
