“The agreement does not say anything about what Lithuania will be like,” the politician told BNS.
According to him, the document is so abstract that most of it, with the exception of the section in which the positions of the partners differ, would be signed both by the “peasants” and by any other party.
“It is impossible to decide what will happen tomorrow,” said R. Karbauskis.
However, he says he is very anxious for the formation of a new government and promises that the “peasants” will vote for the candidacy of the leader of the Liberal Movement Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen for the presidency of the Seimas, if she is nominated for this position.
“Undoubtedly, we do not want to start the work of the Seimas, that a Speaker of the Seimas is nominated, does not collect votes, then another Speaker of the Seimas is nominated, and such a mess begins. We will definitely vote for V. Čmilytė-Nielsen, and if he is in his coalition agreement, I have no doubt that he will become the president of the Seimas, even if the Freedom Party and some conservatives do not vote for him, “said R Karbauskis to BNS on Monday.
He himself said that he would not seek the post of vice president of parliament as the leader of the largest opposition group.
According to R. Karbauskis, it will be difficult for most of the right to work just because the current government will leave the poster very high.
“In fact, their situation is very difficult, the government cartel has risen very high during these four years. The propaganda that was directed against us for four years humiliated us, made fun of us, but never said what we would do otherwise. Now is the time to say what else to do, ”said the peasant leader.
“How much has been ridiculed for our decisions on the control of the coronavirus. I want to hear at least one decision that will be different from what our authorities made. I cannot imagine what they will impose in a state of emergency? Will you not go in? Will they begin to diminish? The restrictions? It will not start. Obviously, whenever you can speak with propaganda messages, you speak. But when decisions have to be made, it will be clear that there are no other solutions, “says R. Karbauskis.
He said that he does not see any new solution for Lithuania in the coalition agreement. According to the politician, many things are not even mentioned in it.
“We want people to start comparing the work of this coalition with the work we have done to see the differences between the competencies of the ministers of this Government and those of our ministers. There has been a lot of harassment in four years by Minister A. Veryga, but I can hardly imagine how they will find someone who can hold such a high poster for so long, ”said R. Karbauskis.
He said that while working in the opposition, the “peasants” would form their own shadow cabinet and prepare a government program.
During the Seimas elections, the current ruling Lithuanian Greens and Peasants faction won 32 seats. In the future Seimas, will be the largest opposition faction.
