November 8 firefighters rescued the life of a man in extremely difficult conditions. 1:13 pm It was reported that in Šiauliai district, rural elder in Kuršėnai, Varputėnai village, a man fell down a well while digging the ground. The first firefighters from the Kuršėnai team of the Šiauliai Fire and Rescue Board, who went to the scene of the disaster, saw that the ground of the well, at a depth of about 5 m, had fallen on two men. One only saw the head and the other the legs close to the knees. The latter tried to dig up his colleague by hand, according to a statement released Monday by the Communications Division of the Fire and Rescue Department.

Soon the Paežeriai firefighters from the Šiauliai District Municipality Fire Service, Šaukėnai Firefighters from the Kelmė Fire Safety Service and the Kelmė Fire and Rescue Service firefighters rushed in, officials from the Management Division rushed of the Force of Šiauliai PGV.

“We first dug up a man who was stuck on his knees,” said Gediminas Pocius, a senior specialist in Šiauliai PGV’s Force Management Division. – One or two firefighters climbed into the dug well, because there was no space, one constantly tried to keep the oxygen mask on the man’s face covered with dirt, but while he was digging it, the ground fell on it two more times and had to go back to dig. It was very difficult to work because there was only half a meter of black earth and 7 m of sand in the well, which was constantly collapsing. From the village, we requested the help of a man with an excavator and began to distribute the well. “

Police officers found another bulldozer. A firefighter rescuer with a tractor came from the 3rd Šiauliai PGV team. Firefighters rescued sand from the sides with buckets, excavators dug and opened the well. “The third time we fell, we thought we would lose a man, but we managed to rescue him. The entire rescue operation took about 2.5 hours,” the operations manager said.

According to G. Pocius, this time the firefighters managed to perform a miracle: “Even in simpler situations, if a person is kneeling on the ground, it is difficult to get him out, because he cannot move until he digs up to his ankles. The firefighters made a great effort to save this man’s life. At the end of the rescue operation, I personally thanked each of them. “

The released man was transferred to a medical center. Doctors with oxygen balloons were on duty throughout the rescue operation.

“The rescued men said they had dug 200 wells,” the operations manager said. – But it’s hard to believe, because digging a well without setting an income is very dangerous. And they had already dug 7 meters. According to them, they needed a new well because there was no more water in the old one. “
