Viasna: more than 90 people have been arrested in Minsk during protests

The list compiled by Viasna contains 89 surnames, and five musicians arrested after traditional concerts in the patios of the capital are reported separately.

According to Viasna, most of the people were detained during the medical protest.

Among those arrested is Roman Popkov, a Russian journalist and media critic for MBCH.

The Belarusian Association of Journalists has reported that Kaciaryna Karpickaja, a journalist for the Nasha Niva portal, has been arrested.

A protest by doctors who do not agree with government policies and the results of the August presidential elections and the traditional “women’s march” in Minsk is scheduled for Saturday.

Belarus has been holding massive protests for almost three months over the August 9 presidential election, which has been declared the winner by Alexander Lukashenko, who has ruled the country since 1994. The opposition and Western democracies consider these elections rigged.
