The National Christian Democratic Union of Lithuania, which won the Seimas elections, formed a coalition with two liberal parties, the Liberal Movement and the Freedom Party. The governing bodies of the Conservative and Liberal Movement parties have yet to decide on a draft coalition treaty.
The leader of the Liberal Movement, Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, told BNS that the party council will vote electronically on the draft treaty on Monday morning.
The three right-wing parties that make up the ruling majority announced a coordinated draft coalition agreement on Thursday night after the second round of talks. It is scheduled to be signed on Monday.
In the contract, the parties included the value commitments that they promise to each other and to society, and the most important future work.
The document includes quality legislation, a foreign policy of values, a national pact on education, green economy and online voting, the writing of personal names in Latin characters, the dismantling of public spaces, the decriminalization of small amounts of drugs and the legalization of neutral alliances.
In the agreement, the partners would commit to support the coalition government led by Ingrida Šimonytė and act in accordance with the agreement and the government’s program.
The parties undertake to divide the political positions of the responsibilities of the Seimas and the Government in accordance with the principles of competence and impeccable reputation, taking into account the proportional representation in the Seimas and granting the positions of Prime Minister and President of the Seimas a greater comparative weight.
