The careless demeanor of the “XXXL” cafe waitress will leave scars for life for a Kaunas resident. The hot tea waitress was scalding the customer’s legs. However, the most surprising thing is not the disaster itself, but the fact that neither the coffee nor the waitress are intended to compensate for the damage suffered.
Disaster in a cafe
In early February Edita Prokofjevaitė from Kaunas and her father visited XXXL café, located in Biruliškės, driving from Kaunas to Ramučiai. The woman said she had repeatedly chosen to eat on-site, but the recent visit had made a big difference. After the waitress’ careless behavior, she had to call a doctor and received long-term treatment for burned skin.
“We decided that we wanted to eat fast after fishing, so we stopped there. Dad ordered zeppelins, I ordered a salad. We also ordered hot drinks, tea and coffee. I saw the waitress come without any tray and the cup rocked and poured water boiling directly over me, ”said E. Prokofjevaitė.

The waitress burned the client’s body as necessary. The boiling water calmed the woman’s hands and feet.
“Somehow I tried to catch that cup out of inertia, it burned my hands and everything else covered my legs. I started screaming. The waitresses expelled all customers and closed the cafe. Dad quickly started ripping his pants, but all the skin had already rebounded, everything was blistered, ”the injured client shared a painful memory.
They were still very proud, considering whether to call a doctor or not, even though I was barely passing out from the pain on the table.
According to the interlocutor, the waiters were still considering whether to call an ambulance team. When the client became even weaker, only then was the accident reported to the general helpline and a doctor was called.

At the hospital, doctors also listed the injuries they sustained. Both palms were found to contain 0.5 percent. first-degree burn, 3 percent on the right leg. First degree burn. The left leg was seriously injured. Medical records show that the left leg has first and second degree burns. The latter is type “B”, which means that the burn is deep, already blistered.

A relaxed approach
The woman was also surprised by the behavior of the staff after the event. Both she and the lawyers repeatedly tried to contact for damages, but the efforts were unsuccessful.
“After the incident, I tried to contact them more than once, but was ignored. I also have messages that seem like I’m not receiving my emails, I didn’t call. I was with them for about a month and a half until I lacked patience and went to a lawyer so that we could find out everything in court, ”said E. Prokofjevaitė, who was burned with water in a cafe.
Summer is coming, I will also want to put on the dress, but I will not be able to, because I will have to hide the scars.
The woman said the lawyer contacted the cafe executives, but they offered to explain to the waitress that they were doing nothing. Such a position is staggering, as a company often has insurance that covers damage in the event of an accident.
“Finally, the cafe managers began not answering phone calls to the lawyer. We found that waiter, who asked us to cover the cost of the treatment, to compensate for the damage caused, because he couldn’t actually wear pants or sleep normally for three weeks. I also paid a lot for medicine and bandages. However, that girl also disappeared. I’m just not angry, “the victim said of attempts to claim medical expenses.

“They didn’t even ask me how I felt, even though I had scars left. I needed to bandage my wounds every day to see if there was an infection. After that, I started going to plastic surgeons, after calculating how much the laser procedures would cost, I decided that I would have to apply medications. The scars on the thighs will probably last a lifetime. Summer is coming, I will also want to put on the dress, but I will not be able to, because I will have to hide the scars. At least my hands were healed, ”added E. Prokofjevaitė.
The portal kauno.diena.lt tried several times to contact the managers of the “XXXL” cafe located in the Kaunas district, but was unsuccessful. Over the weekend, reporters at the portal were informed that executives would be on Monday and offered to call for lunch. After calling at the agreed time, the staff indicated that the people in charge were busy and could not comment on the situation. When I called back a few hours later, it was said again that there were no managers, that they had gone somewhere, and that it was unclear when they would return.
