This morning, the Prime Minister met with this candidate nominated by the Presidency and decided to nominate D. Vedrick to the leaders of the VPN.

“I expect a new approach, absolute transparency, professionalism and complete separation of political influence or of any other nature from the holder of Public Procurement.

I think the new guide will focus primarily on advising and educating the contracting authorities. The Public Procurement Office must focus much more on advisory and prevention activities and become an open partner of all the actors involved in the process from the prison institution ”, says the Prime Minister.

Vedrick, 36, has headed the CPO since May 2017, having previously worked at the Ministry of Economy in the field of public procurement policy formulation, at the Ministry of the Interior.

Previously, D.Vedrick, when asked by BNS if his candidacy was being considered, neither confirmed nor denied it.

“I can neither approve nor deny it,” the CPO chief told BNS on Wednesday.

He graduated from Mykolas Romeris University with a Bachelor of Public Administration and a Master of Public Administration from the Institute of International Relations and Political Science of Vilnius University.

President Gitanas Nausėda and Prime Minister S.Svvernelis said on Wednesday that the head of the VPN could be appointed while still in office for the current government.

VPN has not had a permanent boss for a year, since October last year, when Diana Vilytė resigned from this position. The Office is temporarily headed by Deputy Director Jovita Petkuvienė.

By law, the head of the VPN is appointed by the country’s president on the recommendation of the prime minister for a period of four years.

Ingrida Šimonytė and Gabrielius Landsbergis, the leaders of the Union of the Lithuanian Christian Homeland-Democrat, which is forming a new center-right coalition, urged outgoing rulers this week to refrain from new appointments and recruits.
