The party generated five key expectations. These include changes in the economy, education, and human rights. And what about the leader of the Freedom Party, Aušrinė Armonaitė, about the negotiations that have started?
Talk about Aušrine Armonaitė on the tv3.lt portal.
You announced on Thursday that you are ready to form a center-right coalition, and you also announced your key priorities. How will you manage to implement them, when there will be five times less in your ruling coalition than in the big factions of the National Union – Lithuanian Christian Democrat?
Negotiation is a genre in which all political forces have to remove something that is very important to their constituents. I think that together, the Freedom Party, the Liberal Movement and the TS-LKD can create a lot for Lithuania together. It is very important that your voters feel represented and my goal in these negotiations is to enshrine what is important to the voters of the Freedom Party.
Do you really think conservatives will agree with one of your priorities: legalizing same-sex couples, giving their participants the status of family members?
I believe and know that TS-LKD has people who support this idea. As a result, I look forward to your support. Before forming a coalition in one form or another, it is very important to enshrine that support not only orally, but also in a declaration of goodwill in the coalition agreement. That is what I will fight for.
Will the TS-LKD adhere more closely to the ideas expressed by the Pope?
I would be very happy if the TS-LKD and its members, especially the more conservative ones, would take into account the views of the Pope that he is transmitting. To that attitude that is open to different people. I think it would be a victory for all of Lithuania.
Their top priority, as we can see from the published regulations, is education. Tell me, what would be your main candidacy or candidacies for the Minister of Education?
I like that today we have managed to direct the debate not on positions or personalities who will occupy positions, but on political ideas. Today I cannot answer this question, because the candidacy must be coordinated with the coalition partners, as well as with the candidate for the position of prime minister, so that she feels good and excellent working with that minister. It is also necessary that the candidacy is suitable for the president of the state. The three links and when we agree on ideas, we start talking about ministries.
