According to the LRT research department, the company Energijos Skirstymo Operatorius (ESO), which belongs to the state energy group Ignitis grupė, amounted to more than 5 million LTL in March this year. In the case of a cable supply transaction with the Lithuanian company Eco sprendimai, it supplies cables from Energokomplekt. Eco Solutions offered the lowest price in the tender.

Ignitis grupė comments that the company complies with the legislation of Lithuania and the European Union. Dominykas Tučkus, a member of the group’s board of directors, says that rejecting a market participant because of the origin of their product runs the risk of getting involved in legal proceedings with participants in public procurement tenders.

“We have seen that there is a fairly wide circle of European distribution operators who buy products from various countries, including Belarus,” says D. Tučkus.

According to the portal, the production volume of Belarusian and Russian producers in ESO purchases has been growing since 2015 and now reaches around 30 percent. At that time, Energokomplekt is on the list of official manufacturers approved by ESO and meeting the criteria, and the manufacturer’s products are sold by more than one Lithuanian company.

BNS recalls that Lithuania is the biggest critic of the Astravas nuclear power plant, determined not to buy electricity from the power plant and to boycott Belarusian electricity in general from the start of the plant’s operation. Latvia and Estonia stand in solidarity with Lithuania and the three Baltic states are seeking technical solutions to prevent Belarusian electricity from entering their market.

The Belarusian nuclear power plant is being built about 50 kilometers from Vilnius, Lithuania criticizes the project for failure to meet its safety requirements, but Minsk rejects the accusations.
