Australian Foreign Minister Marise Payne said the women who had flown “a total of 10 planes” had been screened and the head of Australian diplomacy called it “extremely worrying” and “offensive”.

According to Payne, 18 women, including 13 Australians and “other foreign nationals” who flew to Sydney on October 2, were forcibly examined. According to the AFP news agency, one of them was French.

In Qatar, women who become pregnant or have children out of wedlock are severely punished.
