“Unregistered events have a certain importance. This shows that our cooperation is paying off, and we should be happy that our citizens finally understand that their rights must be exercised in a legitimate way,” Renatas Požėla said during a press conference at the Seimas. Monday.

According to him, during the second round of the Seimas elections, the police received 105 complaints about possible violations of the electoral procedure.

“During the second round, two pre-trial investigations were launched. It was possible to buy voters in Tauragė county and an attempt to rob the early voting point installed in Lukiškės,” said R. Požėla.

During both rounds, 214 complaints were received about possible electoral irregularities.

“Throughout that period, we have initiated nine pre-trial investigations. Four of them are due to possible violations of the rights of voters,” said the police chief.

He said all investigations are still ongoing and final procedural decisions have not been made.

R. Požėla also announced that on Sunday he had to ask a drunken president of the electoral commission of a constituency in Panevėžys.

“During the vote counting, we received information that the chairman of the commission may be intoxicated and interfere with the vote counting. After verifying this information, we found the chair in the neighborhood, she admitted to having drunk alcohol, but she refused to check his sobriety, ”said the police commissioner general.

“Explaining the situation further, it turned out that on the night of the same day, before the neighborhoods were closed, he was asked to leave the neighborhood, but he came back and wanted to do his duty to the end,” said R. Požėla.

Information about this president was transmitted by the police to the Central Election Commission.

Marija Šaraitė, head of the public organization “White Gloves”, which observes the elections, in turn said that complaints about the possible purchase of votes by voters have practically disappeared.

The White Gloves were formed in 2012 during the Seimas elections due to voter bribery. We see that this area is almost non-existent in Lithuania. If so, it is at the level of rumors, in certain Lithuanian municipalities, “he said.
