“We will start the design work of the factory in the near future, it will be done by a local design company. This will be followed by an environmental impact assessment, which will begin later this year. We will start construction immediately after completing all the procedures, having received the necessary permits ”, says Andrius Ostrauskas, Director of Homanit Lietuva.
Not only will a fibreboard factory be located on the plot in Pagiriai, the company also plans to establish the Homanit Lietuva Industrial Park, with the intention of attracting more local and foreign investors to Pagiriai.
The decision to build a factory in Lithuania was determined by growing demand from local furniture manufacturers, to whom Homanit currently supplies its products from the group’s existing factories. In recent years, Lithuania has become one of the most important centers of the furniture industry in Europe, so the new factory will help ensure that the materials needed by Lithuanian furniture companies are supplied more quickly and efficient.
As at other Homanit plants, Lithuania will produce medium fiber (MDF) and high density (HDF) fibreboard for large furniture, door and floor covering manufacturers. The plant is scheduled to start operating in 2022.
