V.Čmilytė-Nielsen chose between two candidates in the Saulės constituency. Domas Griškevičius, deputy mayor of Šiauliai, and Valerijus Simulikas, a member of the Seimas appointed by the “peasants”, compete here.

V.Čmilytė-Nielsen did not reveal who he voted for.

“I have the right not to say it,” he said, but assured that he had made a decision easily.

“My main requirement is to be an honest person who works both for the city and to see the big picture of national politics. This requirement is not only for the candidate of my constituency, but for all candidates, “said the president of the Liberal Movement.

His colleague Eugenijus Gentvilas publicly expressed his support for V. Simulikas in the Saulė district. V.Čmilytė-Nielsen made it clear that E. Gentvilas expressed it personally, it is not a party decision.

We do not prohibit our individual politicians from expressing their support for one person or another according to their sympathies.

“The board of the Liberal Movement has decided that in the second round we support the center-right politicians, and we do not prohibit our individual politicians from expressing their support for one person or another according to their sympathies,” explained the Liberal.

Through the multi-member constituency, the citizens have already elected her to the Seimas, but V.Čmilytė-Nielsen continues to fight for the mandate in the single-member constituency. The politician said that he did not know if it would be possible to overtake M. Majauskas here.

“I am not sure if I will win, but I am sure there will be a tough fight. I hope the residents of the old town-Žvėrynas will give me their trust”, – V.Čmilytė-Nielsen expressed his hope.

In all, nine candidates from the Liberal Movement competed in single-member constituencies in the second round.

“I hope that with six seats after the first round, we will double the number of those seats after the second round,” said V. Čmilytė-Nielsen.

Whether that will be the case will be clear on Sunday.
