Virginia called all Monday morning, but only heard a beep. I was alarmed: maybe aunts what happened?
Virginia called her sister Cornelia, who, like her aunt, lived in Vilnius and asked her to go to her aunt’s house to check if everything was okay.
Soon the sister called again. “He just caught our eye then. He found him falling down the stairs and already dead,” Virginia recalled.
When she heard this tragic message, Virginia immediately thought something was wrong here: “There was probably a rush to help her die.”

A very smart man
This is probably the most dramatic and important story in the case of Andrius Raziūnas. At its center is Zosė Marijona, an 84-year-old Vilnius retiree, who was simply called by those around her. She has lost all her property, husband and life, now A.Raziūnas is accused of murdering her. Mary’s daughter Virginia agreed to tell us the story.
15min photo / Virginia Mackevičiūtė
Maria has worked as a doctor and chair of the disability assessment commission all her life. They and her husband Bronislav were wealthy retirees, living in an expensive two-story apartment in a newly built house in Vilnius, Žirmūnai. They had no sons, but were in close contact with two daughters, Cornelia and Virginia.
The life of Mary and her husband Bronislaw, who may have seemed calm and idyllic, changed when Mary loaned money to her neighbor Jurga, who bought real estate in Dubai, the same Jurga we are talking about. in the first part of the study.
Neighbor Jurga did not pay the debt for a long time, therefore, in 2015 Marija asked the debt collection company Turtuvos grupė, hoping to get the money back. “Raziūnas came to his house”, at that time we knew him as Eimantas, an Eimantas lawyer. He arrived with Agne Raziūne, director of the Turtuvos group. They showed up, they signed a contract, everything looked good, “said her niece Virginia.
It can be said that at that time Eimantas’ visits to retired Mary were secret. He asked Mary not to tell anyone. “He introduced himself as a well-known attorney, but said that his aunts said they wanted to know little about his communication because he was allegedly working as an attorney in a completely different field and debt collection would be an illegal activity for him,” said Virginia. With this explanation, Aunt Mary believed and kept the agreement: she tried not to tell others about her attorney Eimantas.
Maria’s neighbor Jurga, for whom all the debt began, noted several times that an unknown man was leaving the pensioner’s apartment. Jurga received him in the stairwell. She did not know then that it was an alleged swindler A. Raziūnas, who introduced himself as an Eimantas lawyer. He made a good impression on Jurga: “Smart, really smart. Well kept, high quality coat, expensive, masculine. He had a leather briefcase with him, I just don’t remember the color, maybe black. Really like a normal, smart person. “
Incidentally, the same smart stranger started calling Jurga, demanding payment of the debt and threatening to kidnap his children.
It is suspected that he has the keys to the apartment
Be that as it may, Eimantas quickly gained the confidence of retired Mary. “She was happy, she said: he is a very good person. When she arrived, sometimes they brought her a box of sweets, they were flowers and they treated her very kindly. And she trusted him, “said Virginia.

Attorney Eimantas visited Aunt Mary very often, several times a week. The nieces suspect that she even had the keys to her aunt’s apartment. They tried to come alone when there were no loved ones. “Aunt said to him on the phone: my granddaughter has come to me. This asked: when will she leave? She called and said:” Come in, come in. “No, no, no, he would say when she left,” Virginia recalled.
Conditionally released from prison, A. Raziūnas was able to come to Vilnius from his home in Kaunas to remove Maria only because he convinced maintenance officials that he had the necessary work to travel around Lithuania: he learns that he drives a truck and delivers building materials across the country according to your business license.
Actually, he was involved in other matters.
During one of those visits, Eimantas told his aunt Mary that he had found a way to recover the money from his neighbor Jurga: listen, the latter has a parcel of land that he considers hidden and is not shown in any document; Mary and her husband Bronislaw would be able to buy that parcel and, after selling it, they could recover the debt. Mary and Bronislav agreed. Eimantas took the job.
He soon began asking for cash to pay bribes to public officials to order the plot. Eimantas requested cash bribes more than once, and the amounts reached tens of thousands. “Upon arriving once, he said he needed 20,000. To give a bribe of euros through Mr. Vytautas Šustauskas,” Virginia recalled.
At that time, Mary’s husband Bronislaw became suspicious. He openly expressed mistrust of attorney Eimantas. His niece Virginia remembers that once retired, Bronislav started yelling at Eimantas, declared him a swindler and said that he would no longer want to see him at his house.
And then the story turned in an unexpected direction.
One day Bronislaw was found in his bed with a bloody and cracked head. Family members took the retiree to the hospital, but it was too late. On Friday, August 12, 2016, Mary’s husband, Bronislaw, died.
This story cast doubt on the lawyer Juris Petreikis, who now represents the daughters of Mary and Bronislav: Then the aunt began to hide her communication with Raziūnas, but very soon they found her uncle in bed with his head pierced. “
After her husband’s death, Mary began communicating with Eimantas even more often. The widow increasingly trusted a young and elegant lawyer who not only promised to get the money back, but also filled her loneliness.
“She really made a very good impression on this aunt as a lawyer, as a very polite and educated person, as she knows many actors from different shadow worlds, different politicians and can handle things where no one else will handle them.” In fact, it made such an impression. <...> And possibly these people felt there are endless containers here and they need to start throwing them away, “said attorney J. Petreikis.
Taken out the apartment
Mary’s retired friends tried to warn the widow that Eimantas should not be blindly trusted. A friend even offered to secretly record her meeting with that lawyer on Mary’s second floor, but Mary declined.
Eimantas continued to ask the widow for money for new and new bribes, for new and new affairs. No one knows how much money Mary gave a stranger. Even her niece Virginia admits that her aunt did not tell her everything.
“While I was there, she also brought him money once, around 1.4 thousand euros. But he did not go to the top because he knew he was. And, of course, when I opened the window, I wanted to look, but I did not I saw, “said Virginia.
Mary gave Eimantas not only the money, but also the amber she had, her husband Bronislav’s coin, weapon and medal collections. Once a wealthy retiree began running out of money, he gave Eimantas his gold rings and other jewelry to build in a pawnshop.
In 2016, he began to borrow money from his relatives to give everything to Eimantas. Only then did Virginia’s daughters and other family members become seriously suspicious.
“Somehow I think an adult still knows what he is doing. But then he started borrowing money from me, my sister, where I had never done those things before. And it was always said that I no longer had money, I had to give it to them. to a lawyer to bribe someone. My sister and I began to have suspicions, “Virginia recalled.
Sigismund Gedvila / 15min photo / Apartment where Marija lived
Be that as it may, the relatives have not taken any action so far. And the gaze of the alleged swindler Eimantas turned to the largest dam: 200 thousand. Mary’s apartment on two floors, worth a euro.
Eimantas persuaded Maria to rewrite her apartment for a few days to pensioner Antanina Stafeckienė. Eimantas’s arguments sounded very strange: it is heard that he will immediately transfer a large amount of money to Mary’s bank account and, to reduce taxes, Mary has to temporarily rewrite her apartment to someone else. Mary trusted Eimantas.
On Friday December 16, 2016, Agnė Raziūnė drove her retired Marija from Vilnius to Kaunas with her car, where the notary Aušra Urbonienė worked there. The latter confirmed the sale transaction, for which the buyer A.Stafeckienė allegedly paid 120 thousand for the apartment. In reality, Maria did not receive a penny, at least later the notary testified before the officials themselves; He said he did not remember how the contract for the sale of the apartment was signed, but was not suspected.
15-minute photo / Office of the notary A.Urbonienė in Kaunas, where they took Marija to rewrite her apartment
It was at this Kaunas notary that most of the transactions mentioned in the case were approved, therefore it was very important for us to listen to their explanations. However, the notary A. Urbonienė did not answer our questions. This is what A.Raziūnas wrote about her in her letter:
Agnė Raziūnė maintains a warm relationship with said notary, therefore, many transactions were approved by her. According to the indictment, said notary would certify only a small part of the transactions. Actually, they have been approved and there are many more approved transactions, because, let’s say, it is good, we will never be interested in the essence of the transaction, I will not say what is not necessary, I will not ask questions. The transactions are always approved by Agnei, there are no pre-registrations, nor what other notarial offices require. Before each transaction, Agnė coordinates everything with the notary’s office when needed, and then arrives with the person just to sign. Many transactions would not have been approved by other notaries, as they were obviously fictitious, contradictory.
The buyer of the apartment is a former soccer player.
After luring Widow Mary to the expensive apartment, the suspected scammers began acting in an instant. Four days later, A.Stafeckienė sold the apartment to a random person who is not involved in the fraud scheme.
That buyer is Edgaras Jankauskas, a famous Lithuanian soccer player and soccer coach in the past. He bought an apartment for his son. “Everything we did here was legally and legally sound. Hundreds of those purchases are underway, and it turns out that doesn’t guarantee everything is still okay. Definitely a spooky situation, “said E. Jankauskas.
E. Jankauskas told officials in more detail about that spooky situation when questioned as a witness.

In early December 2016, E. Jankauskas received a call from a man he knew as a lawyer for the “Turtuvos grupė” Eimantas. The latter said that he was selling a good apartment for 150 thousand. euros Perhaps E. Jankauskas would like to see? The former footballer was interested. After inspecting the department, he asked to show the records from the Records Center. He immediately realized that A.Stafeckienė bought an apartment a few days ago, so he suspected: why is he now being offered to buy the apartment he just bought? Eimantas did not explain anything honestly.
E. Jankauskas liked the apartment, so he asked his notary Tomas Vėlyvis to find out what the situation was there. Notary T. Vėlyvis called his colleague, Notary A.Urbonienė and asked if everything was fine with that department. The Kaunas notary assured that the purchase and sale transaction went smoothly, it was resolved with the seller, everything was done legally and without reproach. There seems to be nothing left to doubt.
On Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at the office of the notary T. Vėlyvis in Vilnius, buyer E. Jankauskas met and seller A.Stafeckienck, who sported luxurious fur, seemed young and energetic. Eimantas also contributed to them. As usual, the notary requested all the identity documents involved. Eimantas said he forgot his document in the car, so he got up from his chair and left the office. He left and never came back.
This incident interrupted the transaction. Later, E. Jankauskas said he thought, maybe Eimantas could be a special agent or an employee of the secret services? Maybe that’s why he didn’t want to show his passport? This time, A. Stafeckienė was probably the only one in the notary’s office who knew that his accomplice was not Eimantas at all: Andrius Raziūnas’s name was written on his personal document. However, A. Stafeckienė posed a real stage: he began to resent it out loud, as if he were seeing a notary for the first time, who would not trust people as much and demand their documents. You know, the notary treated Eimantas, a serious businessman, very disrespectful, and in the business world where he spent his whole life, trust is an important trait.
The deal was concluded. E. Jankauskas officially bought an apartment from his widow Maria. It was agreed that he would receive the keys no later than two months later, on February 20, 2017.
There was only one problem left for Eimantas: Mary, who did not even imagine that she would soon have to move out of her house. The ignorance in which he lived is also confirmed with the recordings of conversations recorded by criminals, that we, 15min research team was able to obtain.
Fateful night
In January 2017, the deadline was fast approaching when the suspected scammers had to evict Mary, who she suspected, from the department.
During a phone conversation, the widow Maria began to comfort her new friend A. Stafeckienė that she did not understand who needed all those confusions with the apartment. She said she wanted to end her life in peace, but now she feared that the apartment would be taken from her and she would stay on the street. A. Stafeckienė answered this with a question: what could possibly remove it? He knew that Maria’s apartment had been sold to E. Jankauskas for some time, but he did not mention it orally.
Maria told A. Stafeckienė by phone that she intended to find a good lawyer and eventually find out who Eimantas was like a bird.
Authorities recorded that during meetings with the victims, Stafeckienė even called herself. Once, he called another of his phones and said, “Yeah, listen, well no, I’ll call when I get back, okay?”
The records of the conversations show that at that time A.Raziūnas called A.Raziūnas and told him to see on the Internet how a heart attack differs from a stroke. The wife replied that a heart attack was a breakdown of the heart muscle and a stroke was the lack of a blood vessel in the head and blood flow to the brain. A.Raziūnas asked: what is worse? The wife replied that the stroke was worse because the man could become paralyzed or fall into a coma.
It was around this time that several incidents occurred and Mary’s niece, Virginia, noticed the unusual behavior of her 84-year-old aunt.
“On January 2, 2017, I went to my aunt’s house. We talked in some way and she says: I didn’t understand what happened last night. I say: what was that? She says: I woke up in the kitchen on the floor. I never There have been such things. He says, “I didn’t understand what happened,” Virginia said.
At night, after which Marija woke up on the kitchen floor, lawyers Eimantas and A. Stafeckien visited her.

But the fateful day became Sunday, January 8, 2017. “I called her at night. She was completely unable to speak, tempting the words as if she was very, very drunk. I can’t say Dragging the words, Virginia recalled that night. – And she said to me: I have guests, there is Stafeckienė with me. Previously she had told me that Eimantas and Stafeckienė would come to her for money. The speech was about 100,000. Eimantas to bring her that money. “
Below, we discuss Aunt Mary’s last night based on tapes of conversations taped by forensic scientists.
4:22 p.m. A. Raziūnas, who was in Kaunas, called Maria and stated that A. Stafeckienė is sitting at home, bored, sad, still calling him and asking her when they will all be celebrating. Girdi, A. Stafeckienė has a bottle of expensive cognac and wants to come to Mary.
“It may be necessary to meet today, because then you know …” – said A. Raziūnas.
“Please please. “If you go out, I tell you I have those places,” replied María.
“Because then there will never be another time; which we will then present to the bank, “said A. Raziūnas.
“Okay, okay, please. Only … Ai! I have sausages, I have bread, I have sausages,” said Maria.
“Let her go with you, huh? I will finish with papers and in a word, I will come later, ”said A. Raziūnas.
4:29 p.m. A. Stafeckienė called Maria and announced that she would be coming soon. He also clarified which floor Mary lived on.
5:12 p.m. A. Stafeckienė called a taxi company and called the car to the Vilnius Pilaitė district; she will go to Maria.
6:46 p.m. A.Raziūnas called Maria again. He began to ask, where did it take so long? What does not come to it? A.Raziūnas replied that he was busy. “How can you be busy on Sunday?” Asked Mary. He replied that the night was long, that the blacks would sit at home with A. Stafeckiene and wait, and he has yet to prepare some documents. “It’s faster, we’re really looking forward to it,” Mary replied.
These were his last words recorded by forensic scientists.
7:43 p.m. A.Raziūnas called his friend Vaida from Elektrėnai, which we tell him about In a second and In the third part of the studio A.Raziūnas told him to refuel the car and wait at the agreed place, and he will come from Kaunas in 25 minutes.
Then A.Raziūnas turned off his phone and disappeared from the forensic scientists’ view, but they were able to see the location of Vaida’s phone.
9/21 p.m. A. Stafeckienė was preparing to go home and called a taxi. He received a message: “The car is here.”
21.19 hrs. The location of Elektrėniškės Vaida’s phone was determined in Vilnius, Žirmūnai, near Mary’s house. Later, she testified that she came to Vilnius together with A. Raziūnas. It is said that he left her in some kind of patio and told her to wait in the car, to get sober.
02.00 Vaida was already with her grandmother in Kaunas, where she was taken by A. Raziūnas.
The day after this party, on Monday, January 9, 2017, A. Stafeckien called his widow Maria ten times, but no longer answered.
That Monday, my aunts called and my niece Virginia said: “I called my aunts, but she did not answer me. And then I called my sister, she lives in Vilnius, not far from her aunt, and I was with my mother in Kelmė I called and said: “Sister, you can go, see, because my aunt does not answer, I call all day, I call”.
Virginia’s sister Cornelia went to her aunt’s apartment. The door was open, the keys were gone. When he entered, he saw that there was a light on inside and that the television was on.
“And then she left, she called me and she said, everything, the aunts left. He found him falling off the stairs and already dead, ”said Virginia.
She suspects that her aunt has been killed.
“Aunt thought all that money would come back. The bottom line is that not even the money came back and she died herself, Virginia said.” There was probably a rush to help her die there. “
He denies having killed
Prosecutors are also suspect. A.Raziūnas is accused of murdering Mary to hide other crimes.
The prosecution indictment claims that A. Raziūnas arrived at Mary’s home on January 8, 2017, at approximately 9 p.m., and knowing that Mary was unable to drink alcohol due to her age and chronic heart disease, she deliberately persuaded her to drink together. After the autopsy, 1.51 per thousand alcohol was found in the blood of an elderly woman.

After Aunt’s death, Virginia and her sister Cornelia accepted the inheritance but learned that Aunt no longer owned any property. In total, Mary had 66 euros left in her account. “My sister and I are two heirs. After my aunt’s death, we turned to all the places we needed. And it turns out my aunt doesn’t have anything anymore,” said Virginia.
Two weeks later, her granddaughter Cornelia called Eimantas and reported that Aunt Mary was dead. “Wait wait. Marija … is he dead? – The surprise of A. Raziūnas, real or interpreted, can be heard in the authentic audio recording of the conversation. “Oh, God is holy. <...> And what happened to her? After hearing that the woman had fallen from the stairs, A.Raziūnas said, “Ojetus.”
During that conversation, A. Raziūnas began to explain that there are many unfinished business, because Aunt Marija has loaned large sums of money to those around her.
He was remarkably irritated to learn that the dead widow’s phone had ended up with the police: “Why was that phone with the police?” After hearing that the police had been called to determine if the woman’s death was really an accident, did A. Raziūnas try to find out? Finished [tyrimą]? What did you find?
Later, A. Raziūnas called Cornelia and tried to convince her that she would not trust her sister Virginia, that she could supposedly take over her aunt’s wealth. We will have a serious and open conversation, Cornelia. I would like to talk about your sister too, – said A. Raziūnas. “In that sense, you are sisters and trust each other.”
During the conversation, A.Raziūnas informed Cornelia that she discovered that Aunt Mary’s apartment had already been sold, and that all of her money had been transferred to Cornelia’s sister, Virginia: “We have a lot of interesting things about the sale of apartments, everything is sold there. The flat is sold. In that sense, it has no property. <...> There are interesting things to sign that all the money goes to Virginia. “
Tasai “Serious conversation”, that Raziūnas offered Cornelia did not happen. He was arrested in those days.
After her aunt’s death, her granddaughter Cornelia met her pensioner A. Stafeckiene, who officially took over Aunt Mary’s department. Juodvi spoke at A. Stafeckienė’s house in Pilaitė. The hostess behaved kindly, took coffee, chocolate, told him about their companies, businesses, clothing stores, cooperation with Paris. You can listen to A. Stafeckienė and meet Aunt Maria through the dressing rooms. He promised to sew a suit for his aunt Mary just before his death, but failed.
“You know, that costume is very elegant, and she really wanted it. And we’ve already agreed to sew it, and then it happened: A. Stafeckien’s voice is heard on a secret audio recording. – We know her, we talk to her all, even about men. We’ve found something to talk to her about, but let me know what her justice is … And overall, I believe you all. I’ll bring it to you for you to show, take the chocolate, don’t hesitate. “
This time, A. Stafeckienė said he had bought Cornelia’s aunt’s apartment and allegedly paid for it in cash. “120 thousand. She took cash, everything written to the notary is. All the documents have been arranged, you can officially request them, everything is done,” A. Stafeckienė told her granddaughter Cornelia. – She herself chose a notary. I did not interfere in Nowhere. I say, Mary, maybe I’m hurting you for that 120? No, they say I don’t need it, it’s enough for me. “

Stafeckienė her and us, 15min For the research team, he said he was tempted by A.Raziūnas’ proposal to buy Maria’s apartment and win by reselling it at a higher price. Although prosecutors suspect A. Stafeckienė had almost no property, he said he had actually paid 120,000. Mary also denied her guilt, believing that she had deceived herself and killed her in the same way as Mary: “He took me to a collapsed house, he wanted to drink me. They would have killed me. One hundred percent I can say. Mary was killed.
A. Raziūnas himself denies the murder charges. He told officials that retired Mary really wanted to sell her apartment, and he just helped her. In response to our questions A.Raziūnas wrote:
For the murder. These accusations have absolutely nothing to do with me, I have nothing to do with the death of Zosa Marijona. Basically, I am a person who tends to manipulate and thus get what I want. I don’t shy away from saying I’m a scammer, but not a murderer.
The conclusion is that the evidence and other material in the case unequivocally confirms that Zosé Marijona died a natural death. Up to three times, investigators approached experts about Zosa Marijona’s death and three times, experts confirmed in their findings that she had died of a medical condition and that her death was not violent.
By taking Zosa Marijona’s apartment. Here several manipulations were carried out with various real estate and land. She, partly as Antanina Stafeckienė, unknowingly participated in the plans that I prepared with Agne Raziūnas. The apartment was taken legally and with her consent, but the plans were not fully implemented because she died.
The fraud scheme, which involved José Marijona, had approximately half a million euros, but could not be completed. Agne and I have always needed people from a country with an impeccable reputation so that, under the guise of them, we can carry out our activities and not pay attention to ourselves from various instances.
This is what A. Raziūnas, who is accused of killing retired Mary, wrote in his letter.
Virginia still remembers the day she found out about her aunt’s death. “It is scary. It was cruel, he says. – Such people should be absolutely isolated from society. Because it is really incomprehensible how so many people can be deceived. One person is really incomprehensible to me.”
In the seventh part, read: We will visit the office of the debt collection company Turtuvos grupė. It is the clients of this company who are suspected of being deceived and the company is run by the accused. For 15 minutes, a journalist visited the company office pretending to be a customer and secretly recording everything. It turned out that despite serious accusations against the boss and the owner of the company, this company still operates and continues to serve customers.
15min draws the readers’ attention: The case on this history and possible crimes is being considered in the Kaunas Regional Court. Final decisions have yet to be made.
