Preparations for the stage began in the morning. Workers on and off the ship roared in response to instructions from another Brabander’s captain, Valdemar Vizbar, who was in charge of the operation.
On Tuesday morning, two bridges had to be raised to stretch the ship. The passage of the Meridian through them was regulated by two tugs that pulled it, one at the front and the other at the rear.
It was quite a challenge crossing the Biržai Bridge, as both parts of the bridge were raised, but the remaining space for the crossing seemed very narrow. The high-altitude climbers climbed the edges of the bridge to see how the sailboat successfully passed this stage. Supportive applause was soon heard.
After crossing the Castle Bridge, the sailboat arrived at the Cruise Terminal, and next to it also the Klaipeda Ship Repair Company, where the sailboat will be repaired.
There were also challenges on Tuesday, because a part of the Biržai Bridge did not rise completely, and here the Castle Bridge did not want to descend in any way.
According to the ship’s owner, Aloyzas Kuzmarskis, the ship should spend about ten days on repairs. The ship must be inspected every five years, this time a little longer, about seven years. The repair trip was planned for last fall and later in the spring, but the plans had to be postponed.
