“Most of the cases are when we can still identify the chain of infection and prevent it from spreading. Perhaps this is the good news that we can still maintain. (…) The cases are not impossible to trace, but if people continue to live so actively in social life, it should not be ruled out that it will be more difficult to do so and find the chain of infection ”, told Elta Justina Petravičien at, specialist from the NVSC Department of Internal Administration, to Elta on Saturday.

He noted that the recent general trend is the increasing number of cases associated with outbreaks in treatment and care facilities.

“(Last Day – ELTA) we have 10 cases that we register in Kaunas County and they are related to the Department of Surgery of the Kaunas Clinics. By understanding the specifics of the institution and patient flows, we see that there may be a number of significant risks, ”said J. Petravičienė.

“We also confirmed 9 cases in the Panevėžys Republican Hospital Infectious Diseases Clinic last day and we can see that the infection has spread widely from a sick person,” added the NVSC representative.

According to her, the chimney of the Marijampolė special welfare home is also worrying.

“Yesterday we had 7 cases of COVID-19 and the situation is such that 22 cases of COVID-19 were registered in a few days. This indicates that the infection is spreading. Knowing the bad examples, such as the Blinstrubiškės social care home in the Panevėžys district, where the infection cases (related – ELTA) are counted more than 145, each of these cases in a social care home where elderly people live respectable, generally with certain diseases, it is very risky and the eyes of epidemiologists are there. it is directed, ”said J. Petravičienė.

According to her, infection control measures were taken in Marijampol infection special care homes: flows were managed, it was recommended not to accept new residents.

“All measures have been taken, it now remains to be seen how effective the measures will be,” said a representative from the NVSC.

Speaking about the situation in the Raseiniai district, he said that 9 cases were confirmed there during the last day.

“By looking at those cases, it can be said that most of them are family cases, when a person gets sick and inevitably interacts with relatives and as a result, relatives get sick,” said J. Petravičienė.

According to her, the situation in the Raseiniai district has already improved.

“The infection is far from being overcome and the number of cases in Lithuania is growing. The residents of Raseini should not be complacent about this, but in general, the situation has improved. The efforts of the people themselves and of our specialists in pointing out by what to do the test, why to verify, why knowing the real situation have paid off ”, he said.

There was also a case of importation from Poland on the last day. According to the NVSC representative, the proportion of imported cases in the general statistics continues to decline; in October they are calculated at 3%. of all cases in which they accounted for 10-15% during the summer.

228 cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Lithuania last day. 66 of them were registered in Vilnius, 42 in Kaunas and Klaipėda counties. Another 27 cases were recorded in Šiauliai, 22 in Panevėžys, 10 in Marijampolė and Telšiai, and 5 in Tauragė and 4 in Alytus counties.

After contact with people confirmed by coronavirus, epidemiologists estimated that 174 people were infected last day. In addition, a case of importation from Poland was registered in Kaunas county. At that time, specialists could not determine the circumstances of the infection in 53 people.
