“At approximately two in the afternoon, 15 hours ago, on October 15, an ambulance and a police team had been standing by this store for quite some time. It is important to emphasize that the store was not evacuated at that time, people kept coming and going, the shopping was happening like nowhere. Obviously, something was in a big mess. At the beginning of the store, in the vegetable and canning department, lay a human corpse covered with a blue bag, but the human silhouette was clearly visible, the legs were sticking out. The accident was opened by a stop line a couple of meters away, with a worker standing next to him guarding the body. However, the work of the store did not stop: the cash registers were working, everyone was taking the merchandise placed nearby, from time to time watching the scene of the disaster ”, wrote the reader.

The situation shocked the workers

The disaster at the mall shocked the workers themselves. How 15 minutes The situation was commented on by Ernesta Dapkienė, Director of the Communication and Image Department of Maxima, and the store manager herself rescued the customer. The store was closed, but customers who had been there until then were able to complete the purchase process.

On Thursday, October 15, in our store located at V. Grybo str. 21, Vilnius, a customer died. We express our deepest condolences to the families of the deceased.

The specific circumstances to determine the cause of death of a person are being investigated by the Police and will be known later.

An employee of our store noticed that the buyer was feeling unwell and lost consciousness, so we called an ambulance immediately. Pending the arrival of the doctors, the store manager carried out the resuscitation actions in accordance with the instructions provided, in contact with the operator of the General Assistance Center. Doctors who arrived soon took over the resuscitation. Unfortunately, the doctors were unable to save a person’s life and their death was declared.

The store was closed pending the arrival of the funeral home that took the deceased.

We deeply regret that, in the face of this shock to both customers and our employees, the evacuation of other shoppers who were in the store at the time did not occur as quickly and gave the false impression that the store was not closed.
