The wooden part of Kurhaus has been restored according to the surviving iconographic material, measurements, drawings and photographic fixations have survived. If a person came who hadn’t been here for 20 years, he would inspect them and say, “Oh, renovated, repainted the building.” I think the result is not bad … I say that in terms of volume, all the details of the decoration, the decoration inside and out managed to restore really well, the only difference is when it burned 18 years ago and when it was created 150 years ago, now the materials are different, longevity. In general, it has been restored as it was, ”said Aldas Kliukas, director of the Pamario Restoratorius company, which restored the building.

He especially admired the representative room, the moldings that adorned it, the decorative elements that are extremely delicate, you can see the oak leaves, even the tiny acorns. A. Kliukas says that the teachers who worked on the building put a lot of heart, warmth, and emotions, so the result was great. Recently, the village had about 40 employees. Kliukas says there was no need to encourage them to work, apparently the village itself created special emotions.

Decoration details found
For the architect Laima Šliogerienė, the kurhaus is like a baby. The woman contributed a lot to the Kurhaus revival. Her architectural work helped her a lot.
According to her, very grateful circumstances arose to carry out the reconstruction of the Kurhaus, because even before privatization a project was prepared, detailed measurements were carried out and moldings and decorative elements were detailed. This helped a lot in the preparation of the recovery project.
“It just came to our attention then. One of them is a flower, which I collected after the fire and gave it to the restorers. Of course, the greatest success is always when the project is of high quality. I will not doubt it, it has added a lot of my knowledge and love for that object ”, said the woman, thanking everyone who contributed to the rebirth of Kurhaus.
The dream came true
The mayor of Palanga, Šarūnas Vaitkus, calls Kurhaus the heart of the complex, the town hall. He also thanked the government of the country for the allocation of funds for the disposal of the village, because the efforts of the municipality alone would not have been enough. Reconstruction totaled 3 million. euros.
“I can say with confidence that those dreams have come true. In fact, in 2002, this historical complex burned almost to the ground, with ten years of ruins that did not adorn the center. Tourists did not understand the situation, why the city or state take no action to rebuild, maintain and restore or demolish at all. We’ve been to hell with the courts since 2011, proving that justice has prevailed. On the other hand, there was no willingness to cooperate, no desire to rebuild , to have something beautiful. With the help of the highest and with the help of all, today I have a beautiful result, because it is the heart of Palanga “, said the mayor.
The building passed into the hands of the municipality in 2017. Design and construction work was seething all the time. The renovated building will be handed over to the cultural community.
The Great Hall, which opened in 2013, is estimated to host 250 cultural events a year. And in the wooden part it is planned to organize conferences, representative events of the city, as well as register marriages. According to the mayor, there are already several people who want to get married in the complex in a villa that recalls the history of the Tiškevičius counts.
Kurhaus is associated with the birth of the complex. J.Tiškevičius in 1878. He had established a restaurant in this place, then a guest house. Soon this place received the name of Kurhaus. There was also a ballroom and non-professional theater performances.
