On Wednesday, the party filed a complaint with the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), requesting that the electoral results in the multinominal constituency be declared null “due to serious violations of the Electoral Law of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania.”

“We demand that the elections in the multi-member constituency be declared invalid,” Valdemaras Tomaševskis, MEP and president of LLRA-KŠS, said at a press conference in Seimas on Thursday.

According to him, the CEC intends to consider the party’s complaint on Sunday.

“This is at least a misunderstanding for the little ones, because you know very well that such serious complaints cannot be dealt with in one go. At a minimum, a committee meeting, working group or commission should be convened to prepare all responses. And there, as you understand, a series of violations are listed, ”said V. Tomaševskis.

The most serious of them, according to V. Tomaševskis, is the lack of marking of a particularly large advertisement and the indication of financial sources.

The party claims that the law on the Seimas elections was seriously violated due to Freedom TV’s campaign against party leader Valdemar Tomaševskis and the party.

Suspects of Covert Political Advertising

The CEC may declare election results invalid if it determines that serious violations of electoral laws have had a material effect on the election results.

Valdemaras Urbanas, a member of the CCA, stated that political campaigns are publications that campaign to vote for or against political parties or their candidates. Unmarked political advertising, he said, is considered covert political advertising.

“Any advertisement for a political campaign must be displayed clearly and transparently in accordance with the law, where the financing of that advertisement can be seen,” added V. Urbanas.

Preparing for court

Furthermore, LLRA-KŠS states that, having received an unfavorable decision, the party intends to address not only the Lithuanian courts, but also the European courts. Here he also mentions the case won by the ousted president Rolandas Paksas at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.

“We look forward to a task force, which should be established immediately, to finally consider all those complaints and facts. On Sunday, the CEC will make a decision. If you are not satisfied with us, we will sue you and prepare for that. we are preparing to sue outside of our country, “said V. Tomaševskis.

The Polish Lithuanian-Union of Christian Families (LLRA-KŠS) electoral campaign did not exceed 5% during these Seimas elections. voting barrier and did not enter the Seimas. The party raised 4.82 percent in the elections. votes. It is true that two single-member members of LLRA-KŠS won seats for the Seimas in the first round.
