As it turns out that the Zenit St. Petersburg team will record two technical defeats on Wednesday, the tournament leaders are taking action.

An officially released report says that Euroleague leaders will propose protocol amendments at the club’s next meeting. Under the new proposal, teams that will not be able to compete due to high levels of coronavirus infection will no longer receive technical defeats.

Instead, the match will be canceled and postponed to a later date. If approved, these changes will go into effect for teams participating in the European Cup.

In this case, the technical losses of the Zenit team will also be canceled and they will receive the right to replay the matches with the Vitoria Baskonia and Valencia teams.

According to current regulations, cases of coronavirus in Euroleague teams are not considered a reason why a duel should not be held. If one or more COVID-19 cases are detected among team players, coaches or staff members, then these individuals must isolate themselves, but the rest of the team must participate in the match according to the Euroleague schedule.

The club must register at least 8 players for the match to take place. If that number cannot be collected, then a 0:20 technical loss would be recorded for the team.
