The heat will soon reach the homes of Kaunas residents

October nights are already getting colder, the sun no longer warms during the day, so preparations are underway to start the heating season in Kaunas. Heating is considered to be turned on on Thursday.

Start of heating season

Representatives of the municipality of the city inform that according to the agreement of the neighbors, it is possible to heat the house all year round, only if the neighbors heat out of season, no compensation is applied. And officially in Kaunas the heating season is scheduled to start from Thursday.

According to the above requirements, the heating should be turned on when the average temperature for three days is below 10 degrees. Meteorologists indicate that the temperature in the coming nights will be about 6-8 degrees, and during the day – 9-12 degrees, so warm radiators would allow the house not only to ensure hygiene standards, but also to feel comfortable. Now the settings are changed and the heating is turned on according to the actual temperature set by the municipality itself.

It was customary for the heat to first reach the educational and medical institutions, and then also the residents of Kaunas. However, it is now considered that heat will be supplied to all at the same time.

“We plan to start the heating season in the near future, probably on Thursday. The heating will be turned on for both institutions and residents,” said representatives of the Kaunas city municipality.

Of course, the start of the heating season causes different reactions in the population. Some are expecting warmth because they say it is cold at home, and now that some people are still working from home, the warmth is only necessary. Other neighbors say that it is not so cold yet, so there is no need to heat, you can save a little more.

The heat providers claim that all tests have already been carried out, so it is possible to start the heating season safely. “All the hydraulic tests planned for this year have been carried out, all the heat supply pipes operated by the company have been hydraulically tested, that is, their resistance and tightness have been checked and they are ready for the next heating season. It should be noted that due to the intensive rebuilds of the heat supply pipes, the condition of the main heat supply networks is improving, and the problem areas are decreasing. This will undoubtedly guarantee a more reliable supply of heat to consumers during the heating season, ”commented Ūdrys Staselka, representative of Kauno Energija.

Pay less

What the heating season will be at this time is difficult to predict. Last year there was almost no snow, there were no big peaks, so we needed less heat, maybe this year the temperature is completely without winter, or maybe we have to put the heating on maximum. One thing is clear, the price of heating for Kaunas residents is forecast to be lower than last season, so even in the cold winter, the price of heating will not break their pockets.

The State Energy Regulatory Board predicts that heating will cost residents of apartment buildings less this year than it did last year. Under this service, the lowest heating price will be for residents of Kaunas. The cogeneration plant that has started operating will allow Kaunas to reduce the price of heat.

“In the upcoming heating season, Kaunas residents, Kaunas district residents and Jurbarkas, who use the city’s heat for heating, will reach the record low heating price: 2.92 cents per kilowatt hour with a 9 percent VAT This is the lowest heating price in October for the last 23 years Compared to October last year, the price of district heating is falling by 30 percent.

The price decrease was determined by the lower price of fuel and a significant decrease in the amount of heat purchased from other heat producers, which was replaced by cheaper heat production at the heat production facilities themselves. When the company invested in heat production equipment and transmission networks, its efficiency increased significantly and the preconditions for price reduction were created, ”Kauno Energija announced in a statement.

Updated networks

The new heat pipes also help reduce heat loss. Kauno Energija continued the renovation of the heating networks this year and implemented ten projects covering seventeen sections.

“This summer about 8 km of heat supply network pipes of various diameters have already been renovated. This year, the pipes were rebuilt on Taikos Ave., between Studentų st. And Savanorių ave., Between Sporto str. And Perkūno. al. Using the technology of pushing pipes underground, the pipeline under the Via Baltica motorway near Noreikiškės was rebuilt, which made it possible not to restrict vehicle traffic on the motorway. Insulation work has been carried out on the pipes of the overhead section of some of the roads, which will reduce heat losses Reconstruction work on the main pipelines was carried out at V. Krėvės ave., R. Kalantos ave., Jonavos ave., Elektrėnų ave., Šiaurės ave., With a relative diameter of 400 to 900 mm. Some sections are still being worked on, but they will not interfere in any way with the supply of heat to consumers. Due to investments made by Kauno Energija in pro ducting heat, it is possible to supply heat to consumers in various parts of the city, ”said Ū.Staselka.

He noted that Kauno Energija is currently carrying out construction works of major heat supply networks in the Aleksotas district, that is, for the first time in history, the heat from the district heating network of the city of Kaunas is will supply the other bank of the Nemunas. A 4 km long main heat supply network will be built here, connecting Aleksotas district with the integrated district heating system of Kaunas city. Once all the planned works are completed, all the necessary heat for the Aleksotas district will be supplied from the integrated network of the city of Kaunas, and the investments made will reduce the price of the heat supplied to consumers.
