The desperate fight of the right against the right: newcomers promise to throw a glove on the conservatives

“We are not involved in any negotiations. We are preparing for twelve battles, where the Freedom Party candidates will fight the Lithuanian Christian National-Democratic Union (TS-LKD) candidates on individual members. This means we will have to find out. who is stronger in those single-member constituencies and what weight will he have in the Seimas. Then it will be possible to talk about cooperation, “said Aušrinė Armonaitė, president of the Freedom Party.

Such behavior seems natural to the party president.

“Well, what to do for the party, which out of twelve single-member candidates opposed the TS-LKD twelve candidates? We want to mobilize our voters so that they can move to the second round and that the voice of the Freedom Party is even stronger in the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania. Then it would be easier to negotiate with any political party, including TS-LKD, ”said A. Armonaitė.

The politician said the party would consider at its headquarters on Wednesday, and later at the meeting, whether support should be expressed for any politician where the Freedom Party candidates do not reach the second round.

“Where the Freedom Party has no candidates, I think it would be rational to invite voters to elect the most liberal candidate,” said A. Armonaitė.

I think it is too early for real negotiations.

Gabrielius Landsbergis, president of the Lithuanian Christian Democratic Party-National Union (TS-LKD), associates this speech with the period between the two electoral rounds.

“It seems to me that this shows where we are now. We are all against the second round. We all have more or less candidates in the second rounds. And everyone wants to talk now about the advantages of their party and, in fact, it is the right tactic: speak for your party, for the candidates, campaign for your party and encourage people to vote for it. Now there is another stage where any coalition alignment is a bit early and may even upset the voters. (…) Do I see any opportunity to speak? Of course, but it seems to me that it is still too early with those languages, ”said G. Landsbergis.
