Solidly outperformed
E.Rudelienė was the leader in the Trakai – Vievis constituency after counting the votes of the first constituency. In total, 24.19 percent voted in favor. voters in this constituency, which is 3,849 voters. Behind him, the mayor left Antanas Guoga, who had high hopes of going to the second round that night and then really winning. He did not succeed, at least in the single-member constituency and the disaster.
In the second round, E.Rudelienė will meet with the Social Democrat Kęstutis Vilkauskas, a member of the Trakai District Municipal Council.
“There was an intrigue in Trakai until the morning. Most thought that A.Guoga would be in the second round, and only after counting the votes in the last district, the city of Trakai, did it turn out that he was overtaken by Kęstutis Vilkauskas, a candidate of the Social Democrats. At this point, I would even say that it is good that people elect local politicians instead of those who came from the side, “said E. Rudelė at a press conference held on Monday with the president of the Liberia Movement , Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, and her party colleague Simon Gentville.
Most thought A.Guoga would be in the second round, and it turned out that he was outscored by Kęstutis Vilkauskas. I would say, well, that the neighbors elected local politicians instead of those who came from the bank.
She made no secret of the fact that she was waiting to be asked whether her constituents were misleading her, who had entrusted her with the leadership of Trakai Township in direct mayoral elections last spring. This is said to be an issue that has steadily escalated during the election campaign.
“During the electoral campaign, there was a lot of talk that I was a directly elected mayor, this issue is increasing. I have just been mayor for six years and each politician, each party fights for success and in this case I do not leave the fate of the electorate to will. The liberal faction is the largest in the council, the work that has been promised, that has been started and even more will definitely continue. I hope that Trakai will also have a liberal mayor in the future, ”said E. Rudelienė.

E.Rudelienė also ranked high on the list of the Liberal Movement: it ranked fifth, but, according to preliminary data, after the ranking it fell to 10th.
The mayor of Elektrėnai municipality, Kęstutis Vaitukaitis, also applied for the Seimas on the list of the Liberal Movement. In the single-member constituency, he didn’t run, but he didn’t make much of a buck on the list either – ranking first at 18th after the ranking fell to 24th.
Mayors never have to attend
The second mayor participating in the elections is A. Čepononis, representing the Union of the Homeland-Lithuanian Christian Democrats (TS-LKD). In the single-member constituency of Radviliškis – Tytuvėnai, he leads very strongly after the first round: just over 30% voted for the mayor of the Radviliškis district. voters who participated in the elections.
The second remaining representative of the Lithuanian Union of Greens and Peasants, a member of the Seimas Aurimas Gaidžiūnas, voted for him just over 14 percent. voters in this constituency.
A.Čepononis was not willing to be very proud of the results of the first round, that the result is what people want to see, but here is only the beginning: it will be possible to enjoy, if possible, after the second round. “The mood of the people will show in the second round,” said the mayor.
Could a person participate in the Seimas elections if you are the mayor, the vice mayor, the director of the administration, who is elected or nominated?
The question of leaving the post of mayor if he wins the Seimas elections in the second round was not unexpected for A. Čepononis either. He says he has spoken about it more than once on Monday alone, but will have a strong position.
“Man has freedom, we are a democracy. Could a person participate in the Seimas elections if you are the mayor, the vice mayor, the director of the administration, who is elected or nominated? It’s just a situation we’ve worked out. I have always said that there should be many more elections at once, and the burden on the state should be less. And if Antanas, Jonas or whatever didn’t participate in the Seimas elections, you could never participate.
I told my opponents, who raised this issue, that if we really want it to be less of a burden on the state, let’s support the candidate who is elected mayor so there is no need for a second round and the money from the second round can be used in the mayoral election. There are solutions ”, assured A. Čepononis with a laugh.

Named possible successor
He said that the current director of the administration, Jolanta Margaitienė, could become his great successor in the post of mayor of the Radviliškis district. She began her career as a secretary for the Radviliškis District Council, then became a specialist and head of the Personnel Department, and now, for a third term, she leads the administration.
