The first round of the Seimas elections has ended. Second, single members will return to the starting line.

In Panevėžys, voters’ votes were probably counted in the Aukštaitija electoral district, which includes a part of the city and a part of the district. It repeats the scenario of 2016, when the Lithuanian Peasants and Greens Union (LVŽS) and the Union of the Fatherland – Lithuanian Christian candidates competed in the second round.

And this time the final was reached by the representatives of the same parties: the LVŽS candidate with the most votes, the current MP Guoda Burokienė and the TS-LKD representative, the Panevėžys councilor, Jurga Girdzijauskienė.

On Monday night, at 1:00 p.m., 31 votes were counted from 34 electoral districts belonging to this electoral district. 2516 voters voted for G. Burokienė in them, 2026 voters wanted to see J. Girdzijauskienė in the Seimas.

Four years ago, G. Burokienė also won the mandate of a member of the Seimas in this constituency. This time he obtained 8,557 (62.38%) votes in the second round, beating then-TS-LKD candidate Rasa Juknevičienė. The latter was elected to the Seimas at that time through the party’s multi-member roster.
