Commenting on the election results in BNS, D. Grybauskaitė said that people voted for the future. He explained his words on Monday afternoon.

“It just came to our knowledge then. First of all, we see that the two parties did not join the new Seimas not only because of their ideological content, but also in terms of political generations. For voting for those young people who want to see Lithuania differently: energetic, transparent, creative, not prohibitive, negative, creating chaos, looking for enemies. That is why I mentioned that people vote for the future, “said D. Grybauskaitė.

The politician was surprised that people once again believed in oligarchic parties.

“We have a precedent that has been going on for several years, not only with this game. But for now we see that on the other side there are two parties that are led by oligarchs who supposedly call themselves the center-left. This is very unconvincing and it is surprising that people think that oligarchic parties can represent their interests ”, explained the outgoing president.

D. Grybauskaitė was very happy and at the same time raised fears that women would come to power.

“Apparently a difficult moment is approaching, when women come to power, many of them can expect a difficult moment. Because most women dare to assume that responsibility when they need it most,” she explained.

“The post-pandemic period may mean that women will have to take responsibility for the state,” she said.

D. Grybauskaitė said on Laisvės TV on Monday that he wanted to believe that the people would set the future in the second round of the Seimas elections, not the desire to create chaos.

“I would like to wish that people would come more than they did in the first round. Perhaps many people were afraid if the voting of people in self-isolation was poorly organized. Believe that the future of Lithuania depends on them. “Lithuania and its politics will turn to the future or we will remain trapped in the past; let’s create chaos, let’s look for enemies in the past,” he said. And he reiterated that everything depends on the voters.

D. Grybauskaitė said she was also surprised by the unexpectedly high result of the Freedom Party.

“But probably that multitude of bans, military illiteracy and the fight against pandemics, hospital chaos, incompetent purchases, caused such rejection that they invested in new young faces and in freedom,” said D. Grybauskaitė about the results of the Freedom Party.

“It just came to our notice then. And it exploded with the achievements of the Freedom Party,” he said.

He also deplored the emergence of the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party (LSDP). He said that the political force had “become popular.” According to the outgoing head of state, it is important that the country has strong counterweights on both sides of the political poles.

According to the president, the electoral campaign itself also seems “tired.”

“It just came to our knowledge then. Especially the traditional parties, especially the Social Democrats. It is very unfortunate, because we have to have a qualitative balance between the parties of the right and the left,” D. Grybauskaitė told Laisvės TV on Monday.

According to her, the Social Democrats have not shown their strengths.

“The Social Democrats showed total cover-up, reluctance to fight, passive waiting and the voters evaluated accordingly: whoever fought, wanted to be in politics, got more,” said D. Grybauskaitė.

Grybauskaitė: the future government will have to shoulder the burden of responsibility responsibly

Outgoing President Dalia Grybauskaitė says the future government will have to responsibly bear the burden of responsibility in solving problems related to public debt, bankruptcies and similar problems.

“The economic situation, the debts, the bankruptcies in the post-pandemic space (of which – ELTA) will appear in our country more and more next year, the public debt, which has increased in 30 years during these reigns, – all problems will hit the next government, and it will have to bear the burden of responsibility with great responsibility, ”D. Grybauskaitė told Laisvės TV.

The outgoing president emphasized the need for competition and transparency in the use of financial flows from the European Union.

“(…) We have huge financial flows from the European Union that can help us cope with the post-pandemic economic situation. What is needed here is competition and transparency, which has not been the case so far, nor competition, if we remember purchases, which are much more expensive than various medical devices, than transparency. This is absolutely necessary so that the state can use everything that comes to benefit our state, the interests of our people, “said D. Grybauskaitė.

He also said he should not fear that a possible center-right coalition will raise taxes.
“The center-right should probably be less concerned about raising taxes. I think that raising taxes is more prevalent in the center-left coalition,” said D. Grybauskaitė.

According to preliminary data from the Central Election Commission, the Lithuanian Christian Democrats of the National Union performed better in the first round: 24.82 percent voted for them. voters. In second place, LVŽS with 17.50 percent. third, the Labor Party, which voted 9.46 percent. voters. Fourth, the Social Democrats, who are very few behind “working people”, with 9.26 percent. voter support.
5 percent The Freedom Party (9.02%) and the Liberal Movement (6.79%) have also crossed the threshold and fell into the Seimas.
