“Failure is a 5 percent failure. Barrier and that would mean the need for me, as a liberal leader, to make certain decisions. I was not afraid of this. Everything is in the hands of the voters,” said V. Čmilytė- Nielsen to reporters on Sunday.
When asked if he would resign in that case, he answered yes.
“I think so. Today I think we will obtain positive results, but it is natural that the president always takes responsibility for the results of the party,” said the president of the Liberal Movement.
He also said the party would have a hard time imagining a coalition with the “peasants,” and named the Freedom Party, a conservative, as a possible coalition partner.
“It is difficult for me to imagine a coalition with the ‘peasants’. We do not have the final results now, it is too early to talk about coalitions, but we have had practically no points of contact with the “peasants” in the last four years, “he said.
“The most likely partners are the center-right forces, the conservatives themselves, the Freedom Party,” added V> Čmilytė-Nielsen.
At that time, due to the coalition with the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party, he saw more opportunities, but mentioned several areas where the parties’ opinions differ significantly.
“I see a little more opportunity with the Social Democrats, but the Social Democrats are talking about the priority of the center-left and we have some very crucial moments, especially in the economy, in fiscal policy, where our opinions are fundamentally different,” said the liberal leader.
In the electoral district of Trakai – Vievis, 10 of the 34 votes were counted first: Edita Rudelienė of the Liberal Movement (24.88%). The second is Antanas Guoga, candidate of the Labor Party (16.25%).
