President of the Lithuanian Basketball Coaches Association (LKTA) Vydas Gedvilas 2020 On September 2, the Lithuanian Basketball Coaches Committee released information about the alleged annual conference of the Basketball Coaches Association and its vote on the new authorization procedure proposed by the Lithuanian Basketball Federation for basketball coaches. from Lithuania (specialists in high-skill sports and physical activity). members and the basketball community.

In response to this information released by V. Gedvilas, the LKF requested to specify at which event this issue was discussed. On September 18, 2020, LKF received a response from the LKTA president that the issue was discussed during the annual Lithuanian basketball coaches seminar.

In the performance of his duties, the LKTA president provided LKF members, members of the Basketball Coaches Association, and the basketball community information that could mislead coaches about the proposed new award procedure. of licenses for basketball coaches. Contrary to the information disseminated, V. Gedvilas stated that this is the position of the Lithuanian basketball coaches expressed in the conference of the basketball coaches association, not all members were able to present their position and vote for the (dis) approval, as the issue was discussed at the annual paid trainers seminar. attended by only a part of the coaches association. This was confirmed by the LKTA president himself, providing a response to the LKF inquiry.

The LKTA president not only misled the basketball community that members of the Basketball Coaches Association voted for the project (allegedly during the Basketball Coaches Association annual conference) without endorsing it, but also incorrectly submitted the draft. of the licensing procedure proposed by LKF. Members of the LKF must comply with the obligations applicable to them under the LKF Bylaws and act in good faith.

LKF believes that such behavior by the LKTA president is unfair not only to LKF, but to the entire basketball community. LKTA is a member of LKF, therefore the actions of the LKTA President V. Gedvilas will be discussed at the next meeting of the LKF Executive Committee.

Despite this situation, the LKF invites all members of the basketball community to contribute to the debate by preparing an authorization procedure for basketball coaches that responds to the interests of the Lithuanian basketball community and implements the requirements established in the Sports Law.
