– I find it very strange if you do not remember me or our transactions. After all, J.Narkevičius and his wife are the baptismal parents of my youngest daughter.

The wives of the two of us have been classmates since first grade, it is through the wives and we met. Admittedly, we haven’t been communicating for three years, I started receiving messages from him last week because information leaked apparently.

– Can you confirm once again that you have rebuilt the Minister’s house in exchange for victories in renovation tenders?

– yeah When J.Narkevičius was Deputy Director of Trakai District Municipality Administration, one of the first to discover who is allocated the type of money for the renovation of kindergartens and schools.

As I said, they knew us through families, the father of baptism was my daughter. That is why he proposed such a scheme: ten percent of the bids won go to rebuilding his house. In other words, I had to give that ten percent in materials, in works.

– J.Narkevičius says he was unable to lead the competitions.

– But he was the first to know about the money, and I offered him the price for the money. He controlled everything. Of course, sometimes it was necessary to reduce significantly, because it was necessary to win competitions. But my company won them. I can only add that it has not always been possible to earn money with these renovation projects. Sometimes it happened that unforeseen works appeared, and in addition, another ten percent had to be given for the reconstruction of J. Narkevičius’s house. But he promised to return the money.

– But he didn’t come back?

– Yes, and that was one of the reasons for the bankruptcy of my company. He owed me more than 400 thousand litas at the time. J.Narkevičius also demanded invoices from me. I bought materials for your house with my company’s money, hoping that I would return it. But it was not like that. He lies and says he doesn’t remember the “Farmer’s House”. After all, you must have bills for 80 thousand litas. I’ve passed them to him.

– Mr. Alexander, but do you understand that you have committed a crime?

– Well, yes, he could have been “hung” for that at the time. I understand this and am not afraid of anything, so I sent all of the information to the Attorney General’s Office in March, and reported the messages to the Special Investigation Service (STT) last week. Last week J.Narkevičius started texting me, but I did not respond intentionally. I informed the STT about it.

Journalists had not asked him about this story yet, so I think the information leaked from somewhere. The prosecutor’s office already had my information.

Going back to your question, I understand the responsibility, but there are extenuating circumstances for those who provide information, right? Furthermore, we are aware that not only the donor, but also the recipient is punished.

I am not afraid of anything, I am an older person. You can prosecute me, but I think Lithuania needs to know what the ministers are like.

– So, did you know beforehand how much money would be allocated to one or another kindergarten for a competition to take place?

– Yes, J.Narkevičius told me that. I knew everything beforehand. He would have told me, for example, to change the windows of that nursery. First we renewed the Polish nurseries, then the Lithuanian ones. When it all started, he offered to start renovating his house. That said, it will be possible to earn money from the projects.

– Did he give you some money to rebuild the house?

– Yes, but a very small part. In 2009, he paid me 8 thousand litas twice. The other total amount, more than 400 thousand LTL, was in debt. But after all, this is money from my company, which has already filed for bankruptcy. I hired people, I bought materials.

It is true that I have deceived him. I asked him to lend him three thousand euros because he needed to somehow recover his debt. At a Seimas member’s office, he gave me that amount, but obviously I didn’t return it.

– Where did you get the money to renovate his house if he didn’t return it to you?

– I had taken a bank loan for my other projects, so I covered everything from my company account. J.Narkevičius also demanded cash orders: I presented him with everything.

– You mentioned that you worked for him.

– yeah When he bought lakeside plots on behalf of his daughter, I bought them together because an 18-year-old girl would have to justify where she got 50,000 euros from her. I helped carry electricity there. Also, I helped set up his wife’s parents’ house on the lake shore. There was that job, but I hoped it would work out for me.

The worst thing for me is that he once told me: I owe it to him myself for winning the competitions. They say I gave you a job, do it now. But we had agreed that he would pay me back. We rebuilt your house for 2.5 years, which cost a lot here, both labor and materials.

– When did he tell you that?

– When I installed your house on the shore of Lake Varnikai, more precisely, I installed the basement. I asked him for money because the workers had to pay. He murmured a murmur and finally said he was here in an old debt. Then I realized that I owed it to myself.

– Why did you just make this story public? J.Narkevičius’ defenders would see political colors: in Trakai he ran for the council on the list of liberals.

– Yes, I applied to the Trakai District Municipality with the Liberal Movement in 2011, but without success. I can assure you that it has nothing to do with any politics or party here.

I tried it in the elections, I failed, I am not in any politics, neither with the liberals nor anywhere else. You will understand that I was not able to go public for a long time: I have all kinds of construction projects in Trakai, J.Narkevičius’s wife worked in Trakai District Municipality. It just happened like that.

– Well, obviously trying to save the coalition. But I’m not afraid of S.Svvernelis either. By the way, I know him a little from the days of the Police Academy, where I studied with him, I am a former officer. No one will scare me anymore.

– Did J.Narkevičius try to contact you today?

– Not.

J.Narkevičius: this is a continuation of organized slander

Transport and Communications Minister Jaroslav Narkevičius says the allegations of rebuilding the family home at the expense of a private company are “a continuation of organized slander.”

“My answer is clear and simple: it is a continuation of the organized slander, which appeared today in the face of the LRT investigation,” J. Narkevičius told journalists at Seimas on Thursday, quoted by the BNS news agency.

“You know that in the autumn our team started a series of investigations, a series of audits, one of them, the audit of the Lithuanian railway electrification section, the other audit, unused funds and tenders of the Highway Administration, construction of insufficient roads. ” (…) During that time, I received several calls, conversations, instances, ambiguous declarations that those jobs are not worth continuing, “said the Minister.

J.Narkevičius said the story about the family home is an attempt to discredit him, but he does not intend to give up and intends to petition for defamation.

“I want to make it clear that those who have organized during that period have discovered that some people who are trying to slander me will not intimidate me or my family members, I will continue my work. As for the investigations by the responsible authorities, I will not only cooperate and provide the necessary information, but I will also request the analysis of those false statements and the prosecution of those who not only organized but also slandered, “said the minister.

However, they did not answer journalists’ questions about how much the reconstruction of the house cost, who paid whom and how much. He repeated several times to answer these questions to the police.

The rulers, Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis and “peasant” leader Ramūnas Karbauskis, said Thursday that they trusted J.Narkevičius.

S. Skvernelis said that J. Narkevičius had previously warned that there would be attempts to influence him while working in the transport sector.

Opposition leader: such a minister cannot work

Opposition leader Seimas, Gabriel Landsbergis, emphasized that a minister who could have stolen should not work in the government.
