According to the representative of President Gitanas Nausėda, the event will take place in the Presidency, so the representatives of the Presidency presented their proposals for moderators.
Alvydas Nikžentaitis, one of the event organizers, director of the Lithuanian History Institute and chairman of the board of the J. Giedroycas Cooperation and Dialogue Forum, mentioned the censorship of the portal when discussing the circumstances of the organization of the event.
“The presidency should have been a kind of signal that in this case there is a community of politicians and public initiatives. But let’s not hide that we have had some surprises in the organization of this forum, and we see that sometimes it is very difficult for politicians realize that certain goals can only be achieved by involving the best and most appropriate people in these processes, especially since they are incorporated for free. And don’t try to introduce censorship. In this sense, I think we have a lot to learn and, above all, learn to communicate without censoring, ”said A. Nikžentaitis.
When asked to clarify whether he wanted to say that the Presidency did not want one of the forum sessions to be moderated by a journalist, political commentator R. Valatka confirmed this. “Yes, we are talking about the absence of Rimvydas Valatka. Vytautas Bruveris, who has been working on this idea from the beginning, has also been included in this ‘black list’ and despite all these inappropriate actions, he continues to actively work and begins to implement the objectives of the forum. “
According to the President’s advisor, Antanas Bubnelis, “as in many other Presidency events, the president’s advisers together with the event organizers consult on the content of the event, its speakers, moderators, moderators and various other organizational issues.
“This was exactly the case here as well – during the discussion on the event speakers and moderators, several candidates were considered and the representatives of the Presidency presented their proposals on them,” noted A. Bubnelis in his comment at 15 minutes. The representative of the President did not indicate the reasons why the two moderators were not satisfied.
Journalist Rita Miliūtė also announced on Thursday that she was among the undesirable moderators of the event at the Presidential Palace.
“Signatory Rimvydas Valatka, Vytautas Bruveris and I had to moderate sessions at the LT, PL, UA and BY intellectuals forum today. Gitanas Nausėda, who admitted to the memory event of Jerzy Giedroyc in the presidency, was extremely caring and gave a free lunch, ”reported R. Miliūtė on Facebook.
According to the organizers, Thursday’s “Lublin Four: Idea and Reality” forum will be moderated by political scientists Vytis Jurkonis, Andrzej Pukszto, cultural historian Aurimas Švedas and journalist Virginijus Savukynas.
