According to witnesses, officials from one of the supermarkets allegedly used tear gas after protesters tried to free a woman.

Water cannons with painted water were used on the stove “Minsk – the hero of the city”, where the people meet again, so that the workers of the force structures can decide what to stop according to the posters on their clothes.

Witnesses report that some 50 people have been detained in various districts of Minsk. According to them, officials of the force structures carry out abrupt arrests, use sticks. It was also reported that an officer struck a woman in the abdomen during his detention.

At least two people are reported to have been affected, one of them an elderly woman. The protesters took her to the road and called an ambulance.

Another woman with an injured head was also seen at the protest site.

Protesters block the streets in the center of the Belarusian capital. They hit the road and stop traffic. Drivers support them by pressing beeps and clapping their hands.

A spokeswoman for the capital’s militia, Natalia Hanusevich, said earlier that more than 10 protesters had been detained. She stated that she still has no information on the victims.

In central Minsk, between 5 and 7 thousand people gathered to protest against Lukashenko’s inauguration on Wednesday, which had not been announced in advance.

Some of the protesters had donned cardboard wreaths and chanted: “Long live Belarus!”

The Belarusian independent portal tut.by has published a video showing protesters shouting “Fascists!” In the photos of the scene you can see people with bloody faces.

“He has not assumed office, he has reached a late stage of dementia,” read one poster and another read: “Today I swore it on my cat.”

For more than a month there have been unprecedented protests in Belarus over the August 9 presidential elections, which Lukashenko has ruled the country since 1994. The opposition and Western countries consider these elections to be rigged.
