In a very tenacious Betsafe-LKL match, Pasvalys’ Milk Stars (1/1) team reacted and closed the 13-point deficit, with Jahenns Manigat becoming the hero of the match after hitting a winning shot.
Thanks to him, the guests of Pieno Žvaigždės 81:80 (21:21, 11:17, 24:24, 25:18) broke “Šiauliai” (0/2).
If at the beginning Tomas Lekūnas scored more points on one side of the square, Ryan Anderson and Justas Furmanavičius on the other side, and the 7: 0 streak allowed Šiauliai to lead 38:30.
After the big jump, many long shots could be seen: half a quarter was enough for both teams to score 5 triples. However, Šiauliai maintained the lead (53:45), although a similar three-point trend continued.
Pasvalys’ team melted the deficit (56:62), but the intrigue reached its peak in the decisive half. After the launch of Arvydas Šikšnius, Pasvalys always fell behind only minimally (66:68), and Andreja Milutinovičius reduced the difference to the minimum – 70:71.
After a long hiatus, the Milk Stars reconsidered the result when Manigat hit it (72:71), but Anderson’s free throw quickly restored equality.
Passions were also boiling in the closing minutes: Paulius Petrilevičius received a technical foul and Šiauliai had easy chances to regain the lead: 79:75. Manigat reawakened the intrigue, striking from a distance, with only 26 seconds left to play.
Although an attack was unsuccessful for the hosts, they had a chance again after a guest error: Andy Van Vliet took a significant penalty: 80:78. Still, everything changed with the last attack of the Milk Stars and the triple of J. Manigat: it was precise and brought the victory to the guests.
In J.Manigat’s account, in total – 19 points (4/9 trit.), 15 were added by A.Šikšnius, 12 – by A.Mutinovičius, 11 – by T.Lekūnas (8th rep.). Daniel Amigo scored 7 points, but the fight for the balls was more remarkable: they caught 9 of them.
