According to Mr Veryga, reliable data is also needed to make a decision, which currently does not exist.
“As far as the islands are concerned, we are waiting for a more general EU policy, we don’t want to be the only ones, especially as we need reliable data to assess the situation there to be able to decide on individual islands or regions. So far, I know of epidemiologists, there is a lack of such reliable data, “said the Minister.
The Minister also stated that so far there is no consensus on a common European Union morbidity indicator to determine the list of affected countries.
“Until now, there is no consensus to be clear on what states should focus on, especially since the situation is changing very rapidly. A week or two ago we talked about 25 (case indicator – ELTA), now Lithuania itself is getting closer. The discussions are increasingly complicated, because there are not many countries that have exceeded 50, 100 and 200 ”, said A. Veryga.
