COVID-19 currently affects 16 residents of the district. Andrius Burnickas, head of the Emergency Management Commission, confirmed that two adults and two children were infected with the coronavirus. These diseases are not yet associated with new outbreaks. The manager was unable to provide more information.
The coronavirus also entered the Juozas Tumas-Vaižgantas gym. One of his students has been isolating herself for some time. According to A. Burnickas, due to the learning format adopted at the school, this student has been in isolation since September 11, so it is not yet necessary to close the school or classroom.
Jolanta Juodinytė, the deputy director of the education gymnasium, confirmed to “Gimtajam” that the student was infected by another family member and had not attended school for some time. Due to the type of blended learning, the flow of students is divided into two parts: two weeks of schooling and two of distance learning. Therefore, the stream in which the student was still infected was inherently isolated and distance learning. According to the deputy, no member of the school staff felt any symptoms of the virus, so far the situation is under control.
