The masks have been registered as medical devices by the State Medical Device Accreditation Service; They can be supplied to medical institutions in Lithuania and exported to the EU, the company announced.
According to Marius Kontrim, Nordmed’s commercial director, the company began to think about the production of masks at the beginning of the coronavirus crisis.
“We saw the potential to create the medical mask production capacity in Lithuania in the spring, when there was a shortage in the market, and then the market was flooded with low-quality uncertified masks,” M. Kontrimas said in the report.
According to him, the preparation, delivery of equipment, search for suppliers in EU countries took several months and the production of masks started last week. They are intended to supply not only medical institutions, but also companies and commercial networks.
According to M. Kontrim, the company plans to offer other medical and personal protection measures in the near future.
