According to law enforcement officials, prosecutors and the FNTT official, acting independently of each other, informally met with the lawyer to discuss the progress of the pre-trial investigations available to him, the data undisclosed. and the interests in the procedural decision-making of the individuals informally represented by the lawyer.
According to the police, in this way, in some cases, material or other benefits could have been sought.
Š.Mickevičius, who has been a lawyer since 2013, previously worked as Deputy Head of FNTT Kaunas County Division, according to public data.
FNTT spokesman Aleksandras Zubriakov confirmed to BNS on Wednesday that Š. Mickevičius worked for FNTT until March 1, 2011.
V. Gailius: all the Kaunas knew where to go
According to V. Gailius, under his leadership in the FNTT, he had to say goodbye to Š. Mickevičius “by what we see now: by connections, by activities”.
“I can assure you that Romualdas Vaišnoras, the current head of the Department of State Security at the time – the actual position was the deputy director of the SSD – called me and asked me to find ways to keep this officer in office, I did not see the possibility of him staying in the office. ” the former FNTT chief commented on the circumstances of his dismissal.

“That SSD official who included the Presidency team in this scheme eliminated me,” he added.
According to V. Gailius, when he began to assume the position of head of the FNTT, his objective was “to end the plan of a decade”.
According to him, the service was “reorganized very quickly” and those “involved in corruption schemes” were “consulted”.
“They failed to implement and enforce these schemes, a series of preventive measures were introduced: corruption prevention mechanisms were prohibited, visits to companies were prohibited, an information system for criminal cases was introduced, and control was introduced. “They lost influence, my team became a critical mass and something had to be done, the SSD was used, the ‘roofs’ were also the SSD,” said the former MP.
According to V. Gailius, after his dismissal, the FNTT renewed the corruption scheme related to the transfer of information to lawyers, orders to initiate investigations against companies.
VSD deputy Romualdas Vaišnoras called me, came and asked me to look for opportunities for this officer. [Š.Mickevičių] leave the service, – said V. Gailius.
“All the Kaunas knew where to go to get things done at FNTT: where to go to start an investigation against a competitor, why go ahead.” In my opinion, in fact, Kaunas FNTT was leading in this way, ”he said.
According to him, S. Mickevičius continued to participate in the schemes.
“Let’s understand what influence you have when you can use the SSD, the Attorney General’s Office, the team of the Presidency of the time. (…) I think there were more people like that. There were such people both in the prosecutor’s office and in the office from the Kaunas district attorney too, “said the former head of the FNTT.
R. Saišnoras, the former deputy director of the SSD, did not comment on V. Gailius’ statements in detail to BNS on Wednesday, but said they do not correspond to reality.
“I can comment on this briefly and only to the extent that this is not the first time that statements that do not correspond to reality have been released,” R. Vašnoras told BNS on Wednesday.
Tested to be fired for no reason
V. Gailius by decision of the then Minister of the Interior Raimundas Palaitis FNTT executives fired On February 15, 2012, after revoking his permission to work with classified information. The Minister signed the order after receiving information from the SSD about V. Gailius and his deputy’s polygraphic investigations, which were carried out to explain who could have disclosed information about police actions against Bank Snoras.
V. Gailius appealed the dismissal in court.
In September 2013, the Supreme Administrative Court of Lithuania declared that the former head of the FNTT was unjustifiably removed.
The court report also noted that his work permit or access to classified information had been unreasonably revoked. In the opinion of the panel of judges, the conclusion of the polygraph investigation, in the absence of any other negative and compromising information, should be considered only as assumptions.
The dismissal of V. Gailius from the position of head of the FNTT raised political tensions at that time, then the former head of the FNTT resorted to politics, was elected to the Seimas with the Liberal Movement, and last year was elected mayor of the district of Joniškis.
