History of cinemas

One of the main stops on the tour is the Vilnius Town Hall Square, next to which there were several cinemas. The now-famous luxury clothing store operated the Casino cinema in the 1930s, the owner of which sold tickets himself.

The town hall square also bears witness to the first Vilnius cinema. In 1907, the Illusion Cinema was inaugurated in the capital. A year later, Eden opened next to the square, with capacity for more than a hundred people. Later, this cinema was renamed “October”, which even had the position of creator, because the cinema was heated with wood.
