“They have given us the names of those who torture and beat people. We are therefore compiling a separate list of officers and employees of force structures who have participated and continue to participate in the self-government of the militia. We call it the “Taraikovsky List”, Cichanouskaya wrote on his Telegram account.
Aliaksandr Taraikovsky, 34, was the first to die on August 10 during protests in Belarus following the disputed elections on August 9. For his death, the opposition blames the workers for the power structures.
According to Cichanouskaya, the list will include people who “contributed to torture, illegal arrests and mockery of detainees.”
“We are actively working with human rights defenders and the Belarusian Black Book project to identify the culprits. We will pass this list on to Ukraine, Turkey, Russia, European Union countries and the United States. The list will be published and will be will constantly expand, “he wrote.
Ms. Cichanouskaya once again called on force workers to stop using violence against protesters in Belarus and “move towards the Belarusian people.”
“Otherwise, you will not avoid a fair trial and punishment,” added the former presidential candidate in Belarus.
For more than a month there have been unprecedented protests in Belarus over the presidential elections on August 9, which were declared the winners by Alexander Lukashenko, who has ruled the country since 1994. The opposition and western countries consider these elections to be rigged .
The opposition claims that its candidate, Ms. Cichanouskaya, is the legitimate winner of those elections. After the elections, under pressure from S. Cichanouskaja, the authorities withdrew to Lithuania.
