Linas Kukuraitis says that next year the basic amount of budgeting salaries will increase in euros, up to 177 euros.
“In fact, there was a political commitment to restore the baseline during this period, but COVID-19 adjusted all plans, including financial capacity, as necessary. (…) We probably do not have a serious reason to increase ( the base size – BNS) as significantly as planned, “said the minister during Government hour on Thursday in the Seimas.
According to L. Kukuraitis, not only the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic, but also the trends in the labor market do not allow to increase the size of the base.
“Unlike the salaries of public sector employees, which are currently increasing by 6%, the salaries of private sector employees are falling and we are seeing negative trends. As a result, there is already, in recent years, a distance between public sector employees and private sector employees, where in the past, that level of pay has grown fairly steadily. Now the gap is great enough. This shows that public sector wages are growing very fast at through minimum ratios, optimization and other measures, even without restoring the base amount ”, explained the Minister to the members of the Seimas.
According to L. Kukuraitis, in collective bargaining with the unions an agreement is being concluded to increase the base amount by one euro.
The increase in the basic official salary will affect all public officials, employees of state and municipal budgetary institutions, officials, judges, military and state politicians.
These employees include pedagogues, preschool and preschool educators, and social workers.
The basic amount of the official salary of the Seimas is approximately 180 thousand. Officials for 2020 increased by three euros last year – to 176 euros, last year – by two euros.
The basic amount of the official salary is determined annually by the Seimas when approving the budget.
