“Information has just been received about 23 more positive cases of coronavirus detected at Radviliškis Hospital. 22 of them are patients and an employee,” NVSC representative Justina Petravičienė told BNS.

According to her, the infected patients are isolated in the hospital, all of them from the Department of Nursing and Solidarity Care.

An employee with confirmed illness is from the Admissions and Emergencies Department.

A total of 31 people were diagnosed with COVID-19 at the hospital: 23 patients in the Nursing and Supportive Care Unit and eight staff members. There are currently 37 hospital employees in isolation.

“Patients are isolated in the hospital, decisions will be made on how to proceed. New patients will definitely not be admitted to this department, “said J. Petravičienė.

According to her, NVSC specialists are currently working at Radviliškis Hospital, which has become the center of care.

According to Vaidas Smalinskas, director of the medical institution, a total of 45 patients are treated in the Department of Nursing and Supportive Care, half of which have not been confirmed.

“It is still being decided whether to isolate them here or transport them to another hospital,” he said.

According to the mayor of the Radviliškis district municipality, Antanas Čepononis, the municipality will meet on Thursday for a meeting of the Commission on Emergency Situations to discuss the situation in the city.

“I will suggest a decision to limit all events. (…) The virus is spreading through patients, so, God forbid, we will allow ourselves to choose different events to allow the virus to spread further, for I suggest limiting it, ”said the mayor.

According to him, more possible measures for infection management will also be discussed, but more detailed comments on decisions made only after the meeting are promised.
