Analysts note that the mandatory use of face protection, especially masks, remains a major subject of misleading information, the escalation of which is bound to generate further dissatisfaction and fragmentation of the public.
SAM’s Facebook pages and the Government’s social network remain the main targets for fake accounts. The comment section, taking advantage of the context of the coronavirus, is observed to increasingly encourage non-compliance with government requirements to wear masks, criticizing and insulting government officials and institutions.
These false accounts, which actively comment on the social networks of public institutions, are created intentionally in order to deceive the public by forming a negative image of the actions of the institutions in the fight against the coronavirus.
Typically these accounts are mockups that use fake profile photos, fictitious names, and a large stream of comments from these accounts is purposefully generated by programmed bots.
A fake quiz can be identified on social media by evaluating whether the posted quiz follows many pages of different content, ridiculous content, conspiracy theories, and gaming devices that are shared on the account.
It should be noted that comments written from such questionnaires are characterized by misspellings, uncensored words, language is scattered and provocative, and name calling is inevitable.
SAM once again urges residents to check the news on the official websites of state institutions, not to choose social media as the primary source of information and not to succumb to provocations. Residents are encouraged to select information channels carefully and verify contradictory sounding information from at least three different sources.
