In Zagreb, Croatia, a “gold” level continental athletics competition was held on Tuesday in memory of Boris Hanžekovich. In the men’s discus throw, two main competitors were found: Andrius Gudžius and Danielis Stahlis.
The Swede made a victorious throw on another attempt by throwing the puck 68.87 meters. True, A.Gudžius did not give up and in the second part of the competition he began to improve his results. On the fifth attempt, he came significantly close to the Swede when he dropped the puck 68.22 m (66.65 – 64.92 – X – 67.75 – 68.22 – 67.81). Unfortunately, he was too small for victory. Stahl retaliated against Gujis for his failure a couple of days ago, when an impressive series of Swedish victories came to an end.
Both D. Stahlis and A. Gudžius broke the competition record. It has been since 2018. It belonged to a Jamaican Fedrickui Dacresui and amounted to 68.17 m. For A. Gujis, it was the best release since August 15.
The third place was occupied by the Swede Simon Pettersson (66.30), in the first part of the competition he tried to resist A.Gujis. Other athletes did not seriously claim the top three.
The prize pool for the men’s discus throw was $ 7,250. The winner received US $ 1,500 and A.Gudžius received US $ 1,300.
