Municipality of the city of Kaunas for 3.36 million. it is preparing to rebuild the main street of the old town, Vilnius, and has announced a tender for these works.
The works on the other side of the street will be carried out simultaneously and will last until early 2022, the BNS informed the municipality.
“During the reconstruction of Vilniaus Street, the underground communications will be basically organized: the water supply, rainwater and the pavement will be renewed, the lighting poles, benches and other small architectural elements will be restored,” he told BNS Aloyzas Pakalniškis, head of the Municipal Management Department of the city of Kaunas.
Offers can be submitted until September 30. According to the municipality, if the tender for the works is successful, the works will begin in November and should be completed within 15 months.
“We plan to carry out the reconstruction in one go, leaving the passages and ensuring access for Kaunas residents and city guests to cafes and other institutions,” said A. Pakalniškis.
The Vilnius street route, its intersections with the town hall square and M. Daukšos street, the types of skies, the elements of small architecture are valuable features of the old town of Kaunas.
According to the head of the Municipal Directorate of Municipal Management, a technical project is being prepared in parallel for the rehabilitation of the Town Hall Square.
