Smart cameras have appeared in Vilnius Old Town – those who drive without insurance or TA have to worry

[ad_1]

These are found on Trakai (brown area), Rūdninkai (brown and purple areas), Castle (blue area) and Dominikonų (blue area) streets. Smart cameras installed at the entrances and exits of traffic loops will record not only the number of passing vehicles, but also the average speed, as well as possible violations of road regulations. Traffic signs also warn of this.

According to the municipality, these four smart cameras are just one part of the future traffic control in the Old Town. Next year, it is planned to install cameras at each entrance and exit of the old town and then use them constantly not only to collect traffic statistics, but also to record violations of traffic regulations.

All the information captured by the video cameras will appear in the database along with the vehicle registration numbers.

It is true that, at the moment, penalties can only be imposed for invalid fitness tests or liability insurance policies.

Speeding, based on the data recorded by the cameras, will be administratively sanctioned only starting next year, when the metrological inspection of these devices will be carried out.
