The Seimas changed his mind and decided to consider the amendments inadmissible. On Tuesday, 74 members of the Seimas voted in favor and 39 parliamentarians requested their reconsideration.

The president’s senior adviser, Jaroslav Neverovich, told Seimas members that some amendments needed to be improved.

“The project is not based on the principles of transparency and objectivity, does not ensure the rational use of fishery resources and the freedom of fair competition, and creates preconditions for abuse in commercial fishing,” said the chief’s representative in veto of State.

According to him, the amendments adopted by the Seimas may restrict the freedoms of companies and prevent some from starting economic activities.

Conservative Mykolas Majauskas assured that the amendments were intended for a “small group”.

“We did not have to accept such amendments,” he said.

After returning the amendments approved on June 30 to the parliamentarians for their reconsideration, G. Nausėda said that the greatest concern is the proposal to grant fishing quota rights to commercial fishing in inland waters not by auction, 10%. the abolition of the canon through the exchange of unequal individual fishing opportunities in marine waters and the modification of the law abolish the initial auction price.

According to G. Nausėda, the state should regulate economic activities in such a way that it does not seek the benefit of individual persons, but rather serves the general welfare of the nation. Also to ensure the protection of the natural environment and the rational use of natural resources, including wildlife.
